They’re scot-free now. The only two people who knew the contents of the pet carrier have been blown to smithereens. They’re on BART. Where will they go? If they’re going to San Francisco, they should wear some flowers in their hair.
Consider that Sergio might already be familiar with this family given that he and Mell were best friends as children and in at least some timelines (possibly including this one?) continued so into adulthood. Probably hasn’t been to family gatherings before (or would have met Artie), but he may know Artie’s origin story already.
I suppose they’ll eventually bring up lost love, and Sergio will tell the tale of how he met the man-slash-gerbil of his dreams in an alternate reality and didn’t get his name…
