What a silly question! Of course I’ve heard of cats. Why do you ask?

And saving St. Charlie will be a good thing why?

the undead have feelings too. Also you can affix nitrogen to hydrogen to make fertilizer or kill untold lives.

You need oxygen in there too to make ammonium nitrate. Ammonia on its own is neither fertilizer nor explosive. You also need some carbon to make the diesel substrate. Ammonium nitrate on its own is explosive, but requires a lot of heat before it ignites.

Actually while ammonia by itself isn’t explosive, it IS a fertilizer.

Nope, just one nitrogen atom to three hydrogen atoms.

Anhydrous ammonia is both a fertilizer and a war gas.

Try to imagine that you’re _on it_. I’m sure the answer will come to you… 😉

Because so long as there’s a large and happy collection of crazies at a *distance* from you, it’s less likely that the percentage of same will go up in your specific vicinity. Ballbearings on a rubber sheet and all that, you know? However, this only works if you’re a) not already in the center of a Crazies Node and/or b) not making a heavy enough ‘weight’ to attract said crazies to you. If you are, you’re utterly screwed and pretty much a prime alpha whackjob anyway, so why not save ’em anyway? It’ll be fun! TRUST ME. <3

Save for the known parts of his backstory – I free-associate to Matrim Cauthon (spelling?) (Jordan’s Wheel Of Time series) – plans to leave – but ends up running TOWARD the crisis. Thats my gut prediction.

Or possibly Rincewind from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels. Tries to run away, ends up saving the world half a dozen times.

To be fair, when Rincewind hasn’t got anywhere left to run to, he’s a pretty good hand with a half-brick in a sock.

Or sand. A sock full of sand worked out OK for him as well.

(TUNE: “I’m Into Something Good”, Herman’s Hermits)

Nick and I, we can save this town!
Gotta suck it up when the lights go down!
I’m afraid to go out, but I think I should …
I’ve been thinking, I need to do some good!

My boss asks if it’s some dumb joke,
Running off and helping other folk!
It’s a concept that she never understood …
    (Vi-o-let never understood)
Just for once, now, I need to do some good!

Off in defiance of Violet Bee!
     It’s a little bit of a mutiny!
Chance to escape for Sergio …
Violet tells him, “Yes, just go!”
(Yes, you can go, you silly so-and-so)

Going out there into the gloom
Feels like I’m marching to my doom!
But I’ve got to be brave, like Elijah Wood!
(Yes he would, yes I know Wood would)
I’ve been thinking, I need to do some good!

(TUNE: “Run With Us”, Lisa Raccoon Lougheed)

    When darkness falls.
And the undead stalk the night,
    Time to escape,
    From under Violet’s eyes.

    A desperate chance,
To get out from what’s wrong,
    Time to escape,
    Go it alone.

    I can run for it,
While they deal with the zombies.
    Run for it,
    I am free.

    I can run for it.
They’ve got madness in their eyes.
    Run for it.

This has really not been a good mission for Violet.

I like how Sergio is so open about it and nobody seems to care.

Hearing somebody candidly make a *sensible* comment by that point is probably a refreshing breath of fresh air.

I have to admire Sergio here. Even in light of Dr. Lee’s noble goals of making up for past mistakes and risking yourself for others, he’s willing to acknowledge that sometimes all you need is a bit of self serving opportunism. I imagine that even if he does escape, he’s going to help save the day in the process.

I do enjoy seeing Violet try to maintain some semblance of discipline when it’s clear the mission has gone so far around the bend that her military status and everyone’s individual affiliations are meaningless. It’s like she’s being controlled by Joseph Pilato or something.

Law: No plan survives first contact with the enemy.
Corollary 1: We have met the enemy, and he is us.
Result: No plan survives first contact with us.

Evidence: EVERYTHING done by Skin Horse since at LEAST Tip’s first field mission.

Hmm, umm, isn’t it true that when a character says something like “I need to do some good for once” they end up dying horribly? That would seem to bode ill for Dr. Lee.

More often, I think, they end up causing the worst possible outcome. Which bodes ill for everyone.

Huh, I wonder if Sergio means that in a, “this mission is scary and you are scaring, I’m off this train,” sort of way, or a, “I regret getting suckered into joining your evil organization, and now that I’m reasonably sure you know how to use my research without destroying the universe, this fiasco is a good opportunity to vanish into the dark while Anasigma is too distant and distracted to follow me.”
