And they wonder why more people don’t trust the government.

Anasigma is a government contractor, they’re a private business that the government hires to perform government functions so that congress can say they’ve reduced the size of government. Which in reality means cutting corners.
Actual civil servants wouldn’t behave that way; do you know how much paperwork is required before you’re allowed to vaporize a civilian?

“Actual civil servants wouldn’t behave that way”

You’d like to think that, wouldn’t you?

Actually I am one; and I’m serious, we have paperwork for everything, most of it still on actual paper. If the Federal Government had people running around with disintegrator rays, they would have fill out at least one form before firing it, and upwards of eight more afterwards.

That’s in addition to maintaining those forms and any emails related to said disintegrations for FOIA requests and documenting any related phone calls with “memoranda to the record.”

You are not protected from government tyranny by the Constitution, nor by civil society groups: you are protected from government tyranny by the sheer administrative costs of running a tyrannical state via a bureaucratic system.

Now corporations, they can oppress you on the cheep.

Then allow me to rephrase… Don’t assume that all civil servants go by the book just because you do.

Seems about right. Also, good luck under the current regime. Sounds like you need it.

Wait, was she vaporized? miniaturized? or just really badly tasered?

    • Alphaghoul
      January 17, 2015, 1:15 am | # | Reply

I was gonna ask the same thing. If she’s been vaporized or disintegrated then red head what’s her name has probably started a panic and is likely planning on killing them all anyway. Call me faint hearted but I’d prefer her paralyzed with a partial mind wipe, but considering that anasigma prefers to do horrible things for the sake of being an evil orginization then it’s likely the former.

Stars are cartoon code for “owie”, so she’s fine.

Though the last Institute operation levelled the block, IIRC, so maybe that’s “fine… for now”.

I’m not sure what precisely just happened, but I suspect that Sweetheart will be very, very angry. I fear she is about to blow her mad scientist cover.

Come to think of it, the quality of Sweetheart’s rampage didn’t matter: all she needed to do was show up, A-Sig’s plans won’t move forward if they just ignore Skin Horse’s somewhat bumbling efforts.

We all have an idea of what they really mean by “sane” right?

    • Shadowmehr
      January 17, 2015, 10:08 am | # | Reply

We might have an idea, but I’m not sure they do.

Anasigma appears to have bypassed “sane” for its field agents long ago.

There’s different flavors of madness. Perhaps Anasigma has noticed that individuals with malign hypercognition disorder can frequently be countered (or at least inconvenienced) by just plain axe crazy.

How do you just murder everyone you come across and remain undetected? I really hope they didn’t actually murder that lady. seems like she’s just knocked out.

Rest assured, Louise remains unmurdered. That is in fact an owie-star.

That’s one heck of a taser. It must be designed to take down large tank-grown monstrous perversions of science, but trust a public servant to think “You know, this will really cut down on the time I have to spend arguing with innocent bystanders.”

On looking at panel three, I was struck by that lady’s resemblance to Beaker. All it took was a powerful enough TASER.

So they don’t have a ‘neuralizer’ like MiB? Can’t they just erase memories?

Then again, this zapper looks way more fun.

If your tazer doesn’t cause short-term memory loss, you need a bigger tazer — Anasigma Field Manual

OK. Since when did being on taxpayer time ever mean that things would speed up? Usually it means run up the longest possible time and greatest expenses. Also isn’t Ana-Sigma technically a private company?

You are forgetting that Government Definitions are in use.

Transparency means “you can find out what is in the trade treaty AFTER its a done deal because otherwise you may raise a stink” Re SOPA, PIPA, etc.

Various police organizations seizing funds/records/property because it was “involved in an alleged crime” then dropping all charges and keeping the confiscations. Then using these seizures to FUND the very programs that are doing the seizing. Talk about a conflict of interest.

They drop the charges because they do not have Probable Cause and can’t make anything stick in court.
This wonderful breach of Due Process was made possible by the RICO statutes and should have been trashed by the Supreme Court of the United States long ago.
        Why hasn’t it?

…you know, there’s something to be gained here.

If Sweetheart continues on a benevolent rampage, helping people out across America in highly visible and at worst only slightly illegal ways, and if the agents keep pursuing her and doing horrible painful things to everyone who stands in their way, Anasigma willl start to attract extremely negative attention.

I wonder if any of the folks there are armed? I know if I was going on a rampage, I wouldn’t pick Ohio to do it in.

It certainly wouldn’t go well for them if they tried that at a church social in my town. We have armed security officers, plus probably at least 10% of the congregation are normally armed.
