I wonder if some of the zombies actually think of themselves as humans – just “alternately alive” ones, so to speak. (Not to mention cyborgs like Nick. Just how much of your body do you need replaced by machinery to get a pass?)
Nick doesn’t identify as human. That was a prerequisite for him to be assisted by Skin Horse and is likely what qualifies him for Lovetron beyond simple prostheses.
If a mind-control system is shown on the mantelpiece in Act n, it must be deployed by the end of Act n+x.
Sweetheart and Unity will meet H.T, and H.T. will solemnly apologize for his prior behavior, and resolve to be a better person.
H.T.: “Somehow, I’ve developed a conscience. And my conscience tells me that it is wrong to eat fat babies foment an uprising among transgenic sapients.”
This will clue in Sweetheart and Unity that something funky is going on.
Say, maybe Tigerlily intuited this turn of events, and bugged out, leaving a square sister to take her place.
Nah. They’ll probably recognize that he’s their boss before they do anything irrevocable. And it’s not like he can give over control to Tigerlily or Sweetheart. They’re both gone, and I don’t think there’s anyone left to take control of A-sig, unless Dr. Lee wants it, but she’s kind of busy right now. I think Tip’s stuck being in charge of A-sig for now, unless he figures out a way to get out of it.
I’m kind of concerned, though, about what a sad, disillusioned Tip is likely to do with A-sig. That could go some pretty dark places.
We’ve seen Tip’s dark place before. A bit grungy, but to be fair Id’ rather have his Kurt Cobain side of self ruling the wolrd than any actual world leader.
Skin Horse is a comedy in the classic style, not a tragedy.
Tragedies end with the deaths or injuries of the principle characters.
Comedies end with at least one wedding. I know we’ve had a few already, but I’m expecting at least one more.
I’m at least 80% sure that Tip and Tigerlily will wed by the end of the story. I don’t know if Tip will go to space (interstellar mojo?), or Tigerlily will return to Earth, or Tigerlily never actually left Earth, but I think that’s a strong contender for the finale.
The other 20% probability is that it ends in a tragicomic way, with Tip shown as pining after Tigerlily. But he’ll comfort himself with others.
I was halfway through a song parody about that but the story switched to this. I suppose I should finish it in case Tip turns up again before the bitter end. I think I’ll go do that now.
Pavane thinks they can find peace. Away from Earth all strife will cease. So don’t feel bereft, what humans have left—mostly hair tips, a good help with fleece.
So, are we curious about the rest of that Canadian Super Dog Pack and if they’re aboard?
Yeah, most of them didn’t seem to be planning to travel anywhere. Which raises the question, how many non-human sentients have been left behind?
Entire continents’ worth of, as far as we know.
…and Mad Science is presumably not going to stop creating more.
I love how Pavanne thinks that this is the last time they’ll ever encounter humans.
I love how Pavane thinks getting them away from humans will remove their own personal issues.
“I’m so excited to move away from home for college! Now that I’ll be away from my parents, none of their problems will ever affect me ever again!”
I dunno. I have a feeling that Pavane may be more pro-active on that account than you think.
So will the humans left behind. Particularly the ones who had relatives in Pennsylvania.

It turns out that every human with a prosthetic leg also got picked up, most of which are now extremely confused.
And pacemakers, bypasses, fake teeth and piercings.
Not only this is becoming crowded with human, but Genesis P. Orridge is ruling them.
In that case, beam me up!
Nick doesn’t identify as human. That was a prerequisite for him to be assisted by Skin Horse and is likely what qualifies him for Lovetron beyond simple prostheses.
Things may have changed some since he said that.
He still refers to the human body as his “meat peripheral”.
… oh HT is going to ABSOLUTELY trash this plan.
Yup! There is no way he is going to be satisfied until he is in charge here.
. . . That sounds completely foreboding.
Wait. New whack idea.
What is “funk”? Ultimately, a smell.
What is a smell? Airborne chemicals.
. . .
Pavane will keep everyone cool and calm with the judicious application of the appropriate pheromones.
. . .
Or maybe aromatherapy.
(Or both. Sure. Both. Both is good.)
Oh! And there’s also the Crown!

Chekov’s Crown
I keep thinking of Tip on that stretch of road facing the soldiers. Will the final panel of the story be his crumpled body on the road?

Tip has been a stand-up for Ozma, who did rule in the end. Maybe they’ll come back to an overly orderly world with him in charge.

The ending of “Fritz the Cat” comes to mind

Except she didn’t offer this peace to everybody.
Anyone else getting some potential lotus eater vibes from “grooving to the cosmic funk?”

Nice one!
So Tigerlily suddenly stopped talking like herself, and Pavane is suddenly talking like Tigerlily? Something interesting is happening here.
She talked like that on her first appearance: https://skin-horse.com/comic/garlic-salt-2/ and strips following that.
For those looking for a new webcomic to enjoy while Shaenon is on down time, https://www.chickenwingscomics.com/archives/archives.php?strip_id=1 is great especially for the aviation buffs!
