    It is, I think, not so much the dying as the knowing when things are going to happen, and being able to react to them in premeditated ways.

      A bit of column A, a bit of column B. I’m sure that getting used to dying/restoring helped desensitize him to the terror of the situation as well.

      It’s a bit more like Edge of Tomorrow, in that the characters are trying to get through a particular scenario alive, rather than just reliving the same day in a variety of ways. Predates the movie, though. The concept has been around.
