    Apparently Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Red Shoes” is “De Rode Sko” in the original Dutch. The protagonist is named Karen. Score another one for children’s stories!

      Further nitpicking: it’s De Røde Sko with an ø, which is considered a separate letter in Danish.

      Red shoes will result in extirpation.
