    Chris Reed (animeraider) says:
New strip! New strip! New Strip!
    Welcome back Shaenon! Hello Jeffrey!
    /me is happy

Owl Who says South (owlsayssouth) says:
Curious. So we have, presumably, a man (by the gender-inappropriate remark, and the apparent hair on the character’s arms and leg) stareing down a Uber-lion (or some such). but its okay, because he is a psychologist. This should be very interesting.
oh. and i do belive that is a folding chair he is holding. nice. not what i would want to be holding while stareing down a lion, let alone an Uber-lion. but still. nice.

    So It Begins (soitbegins) says:
    Eegads!
In other news: Congratulations on the inception of a new webcomic, may it reign long!

Tiff Hudson (tiff_hudson) says: Sweet! Subverting the canonical “lion tamer” image with a *folding* chair.

Ed Gedeon (eddurd) says: Pink angora sweater? Gender-inappropriate? If this guy’s name is “Glen” (or “Glenda”), I’m going to kick someone.

Robin Zimmermann (packbat) says: You know how Eric Burns wrote that Websnark entry where he pointed out the panel where he first fell in love with Questionable Content? Panel four.

Basil Jelly (basil_jelly) says: I love that rocking horse logo, just love it!

Rob Wright (mirk) says: I’m looking forward to this new project of yours, Mrs. Faragarrity. An auspicious way to start the new year.

Steve Ford (sford) says: Now granted, Roberta Frost hand-knit sweaters punch up tired wardrobes with color and fun, creating design and sophistication. True, women are wearing Roberta’s colorful collection to work, to play, and to party — with pants, with skirts, over leggings, and in lieu of blazers. And yes, there are even scarves to be had. But gender-inappropriate? I searched her entire line and didn’t see that category. (A category I’m always on the lookout for, btw.)

    Daniel Ross (nentuaby) says:
    I completely approve. 😀
Hi again, Shaenon. Nice to meet you, Jeffrey. 🙂

Even after all these years, I still adore Tip’s expression in this last panel.

Oh, a crossdresser! Gotta say, I’ve never seen that in a comic before.

I am so ignorant of fashion that when I first read Skin Horse, I assumed Roberta Frost was a real designer. ‘Oh yes, I think I’ve heard of her.’

And yet, when I search for images under “Roberta Frost”, there are some stylish sweaters…

‘The situation is under control. I’m a psychologist.’

As FURTHER wili demonstrate and perhaps even explain……

This is such a great character introduction. I love serious-mode Tip. It’s a great first step inti his character, while also being the obvious state he’d be in, given recent backstory and the specific thoughts and insecuritues we see comjng up right before this, in the filenane story. Also just CLASSIC overprepated but underthinking and underestimating Tip. Just… Quality.

      Oh my yes!

It’s also a beautiful case of en medias res and the start of an introduction to the world (I say start only because there’s no way to sum up the world of Skin Horse, or even Tip, in only four panels).

But, like, look at panel 2. Taken on its own, I’d expect a bedraggled protagonist in need of a shave holding an oversized firearm, and that we’re about to transition into an over-the-top fight scene. Instead, we’re treated to an exceptionally well dressed psychologist holding a folding chair, which is so much more awesome.

15 years from the publication of this strip (14 Apr 2022), the authors make a callback about it: This is to let readers know the depth of planning that goes into the Skin-horse plotting. ALL HAIL SHAENON AND JEFF!!

Finally getting around to the deep-dive I promised Shaenon (and myself) I’d embark on months ago…

    *~ *welcome home* ~*
