    That’s more like it.

Hmmm! Sounds like no one ever told Marcie about the damage the wrong sort of nanotech robots might be able to do. >_>

I wonder what Tigerlily-produced grey goo would look like.

Stephenson’s Diamond Age nanobots were powered by mainsprings, IIRC. So Tigerlily’s could look like them. Except in funky purple and flares.

For some reason I keep thinking they’d look like microscopic disco balls…

It wouldn’t be grey, for starters.

Best yet, all nanotech has to be powered by compressed molecular bonds or vibrating chains… You know, like springs.

Yet another fine product of the Institute!

Yeah, you’d think at least one of them would have realized “little” and “dangerous” aren’t mutually exclusive. I guess that’s why they’re the fools at the Institute, instead of the smart guys.

    They’re like cute little eels.

    Giant bird==small?

Giant, no I mean seriously GIANT spider = almost the size of a rat. This horror’s HUGE, like it has its own gravitational field sucking starships to their doom. The size of a RAT, I tell you!

But was the rat of uncommon proportions?

Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t think they exist.

I hope the huge enlightened rat is keeping well, though.

I’ve been told of a Giant Rat of Sumatra.

Perhaps the Rodents of Unusual Size are like those on Mars in _Court of the Crimson Kings_

Are her robots still all square?

Yep. When they’re not snarling (which is to say when they’re on break), the Smokey Washingtons talk to each other like a pair of Garrison Keillors. It is the most unnerving thing they do, which—as they are robot lampreys—is saying something.

Which was the last one we saw? Sasquatch Jefferson, who had a fondness for Lawrence Welk? Or was it Tellbot, who channeled Frazier Crane?

No it wasn’t any of them, it was that bird that handed out the invitations.

Before that, it was Joe Lovebody, the mechanical bird who became the personal pet/factotum of the Abbess of the Notaries. Hard to get squarer than that.

Don’t casually mention the conditioning, idiot! If you draw the universe’s attention to its existence, the universe might get bored and start fiddling with it.

Tangentially, if Virginia also created disinhibiting trigger phrases, she could take her friends to International House of Pancakes and destroy the planet. Pretty sure somebody already did a variation of that joke.

Well, I just completed another archive read-through of Narbonic, and am once again convinced that Zeta needs to show up in Skin Horse, possibly in a segment with Jonah Yu.

    Also she should bring Foot.

Jonah and Nera at least mention “Foot,” wishing they could run as good a website as Foot does. I’m assuming that means Zeta and Foot together.
