Not so much cannon fodder as just fodder.

For whatever reason, I always imagine KT speaking with a lisp.

      That’s “KT”, not “Igor”.

So far, none of the systems has attempted to eat the group. If one of those responsible for its maintenance was an Igor, this would be inevitable. It is therefore safe to say that KT does not speak with a lisp, or at least not with a genuine Igor lisp.

Hers is the “sh” type of lisp, rather than the “th” type. Totally different.

This is what struck me in Terry Pratchetts book Dodger. lt seems the sewers in London, going into the river, and the Roman sewers: those were STORM DRAINS, not sewers at all. Sewage went into pits to be carried out by nightsoil workers. Only after we invented the flush toilet, then people started, wrongly, plumbing those in to the storm drains, turning them into sewers and making the river much much worse. Though I suppose there was always a BIT of sewage in the river, as the first public toilet was basically a room suspended over the river.

Too true, sadly. Apparently, since early C19th people believed that disease was spread by bad smells, London started pumping raw sewage into the Thames (near where drinking water was being taken out) as a public health measure.

(TUNE: “I Don’t Want To Walk Without You”, Frank Loesser and Jule Styne)

I don’t want to see K.T. get chewed on!
I don’t want to use her as a food pawn!
If feral zombies come to attack,
We’ll push her forward as we step back!
    She’ll be a snack!

But why’s she have to be just cannon fodder?
Why is poor K.T. led to the slaughter?
    Why don’t you understand
That you’ve planned an awful fate?
Oh, I don’t want to use her just as zom-bie bait!

Y’know Sewer Santa, it’s still a vitalist attitude even when the target of discrimination chooses to be the meatshield. The right answer is “it’s what she wants to do” or “it’s in her job description.”

When your guide uses a hard hat, you should too. He’s probably not doing it for the hell of it, y’know.

So it’s the “run away faster than the slowest member of team” strategy. Gotcha.

It is, after all, an ancient and well respected survival strategy, practiced in cultures across time and the world.

This is a bit off topic on the current strip, but I just found it. Take a look at this link to get a better feel for Nick.

So, is the scar dividing KT’s face the K.T. Boundary?
