Or it is one of those episodes she wishes dearly to forget. If I remember correctly she did not have a good time. Also, wasn’t she kicked out before Unity got appointed?
From Unity’s side, the hatchet-burying began in Idaho, in the strip immediately before the one awgiedawgie linked, though there’s a bonus story in one of the books that really solidifies the relationship’s new footing. Virginia, for her part, has always wanted to see Unity thrive, as evident way back at Groom Lake, so her pride at Unity’s notary public commissioning is fully consistent with that desire.
With their planning all torn to a shred, Gin and Nick are still hoping to wed. Because it is Unity, the Skin-Horse community is suddenly filled up with dread.
Well, in our universe, only Maine and South Carolina allow Notaries Public to officiate at weddings. But this is their world, not ours, so maybe it’s allowed in Kansas as well there.
Florida also allows Notaries to officiate at weddings. With a currently valid marriage license… expires in 90 days if not signed, sealed, and delivered.
That dangling plot thread is about to help tie a knot.

Well played, Jerry Aethers, well played.
EXQUISITE <3
Chekov’s Gun has now fired. ๐
Chekhov’s Notary Stamp.
Chekov’s Gun is a phaser.
I used this one before for a reveal and I just don’t care.
Squee! This is delightful!
So why do I have a bad feeling about this?
I figured this was where this was going, and it’s awesome!
A Justice of Many Pieces?
Moustachio is also a Notary Public.
Too bad M has an “appointment” with Hitty and has already boarded the Spacecraft.
BTW, I got one for once!
Oh, wow, this is beautiful. <3
Man, Unity is FAST at those limb / component changes. ๐
The nanotech “glue” is far more tolerant of a poor initial fit than any mechanical or biological join, and it aligns the parts while in use.
Envy.
I just took it to mean the hand is one color on the back and another on the front
No, palms (and soles of the feet) tend to be pale, just not as noticeable on pale-skinned people
Absence of melanin deposits.
But not ont he wrists, I think its just an art error.
YES! YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YESSSS!
I am very happy about this development, thank you Shaenon and Jeff <3
Loving Unity’s smile!
I gather no one had asked Unity for her Notary Public services for a long time.
Until this moment I had completely forgotten Unityโs adventure in the Nota Republic.
Dr. Lee seems to have forgotten, too—and she was there.
I got the impression that Virginia was looking directly at Unity when she said that.
Or it is one of those episodes she wishes dearly to forget. If I remember correctly she did not have a good time. Also, wasn’t she kicked out before Unity got appointed?
No, she was there. She even looks proud of Unity.

Yup. Just went back and read the whole chapter again. I do not regret this.

I agree, awgiedawgie. I think this is a very sweet “creator/creation” bonding moment where the hatchet will be buried.
It just suddenly hit her
“The stamp came with the hand – great deal, actually!”
With their planning all torn to a shred, Gin and Nick are still hoping to wed. Because it is Unity, the Skin-Horse community is suddenly filled up with dread.
YESSSS! ONE OF THE BEST STORYLINES COMES BACK!
“I now pronounce you helicopter and wife. You may nom the bride.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. Biscuit.”
Biscuit is no longer cross!
Wait, a notary public can officiate a wedding? So I can officiate a wedding? Lawyers automatically get a life commission in Ohio.
Well, in our universe, only Maine and South Carolina allow Notaries Public to officiate at weddings. But this is their world, not ours, so maybe it’s allowed in Kansas as well there.
I’m sure they can “just” fly to Maine or South Carolina, do the wedding, and come back
Well, if they do let Unity officiate, they’ve got to do it before next Friday.
Florida also allows Notaries to officiate at weddings. With a currently valid marriage license… expires in 90 days if not signed, sealed, and delivered.
Notaries can perform weddings anywhere in the world.
But those of you with reality blindness find that too weird to accept see you see it as only being legal in Maine and South Carolina.

This made me really happy.
