    SKREEONK!

Does this mean that Whimsy has some Magic Girls and Mecha that it can deploy as well? ^_^

Yeah, but the mecha are metaphors for the harm that industrialization does to a peaceful, pastoral lifestyle, so they’re kind of a downer.

I can’t decide which line in the last panel I like better.

“I refuse to die by corporate synergy!” Now there’s a battle cry!

I can’t decide which of them is more to blame for the ironic summons in the 1st panel.

It’s definitely Nick. Acknowledging that you may be attacked does not result in irony if an attack comes, and does not come with any trope guarantee that there will be an attack.

Yukimon, what is it you do?
Oh, Yukimon, what is it you do?
You’re standing there blocking the way they’re going through.

As they were walkinating into the hills,
They saw Yukimon as an awesome thrill.
The Andes Adventure had been pretty lame.
The Beast of Hokkaido changed that game.
    A Whimsyworld add-on back in eighty-five,
Getting in their way as they hit their stride.
Yukimon, what is it you do?
Oh, Yukimon, what is it you do?
You’re standing there blocking the way they’re going through.

The Yukimon loomed up ahead in the road.
The road was blocked, they couldn’t go no more.
A pickup from buyouts has stopped them cold,
From Tanchibi Studios now pretty old.
A corporate synergy was well and good,
But it put this big animal where they stood.
Yukimon, what is it you do?
Oh, Yukimon, what is it you do?
You’re standing there blocking the way they’re going through.

The ride was down, their questing was down,
And that’s when they heard that awful sound.
The Yukimon a lettin’ out a loud “Skreeonk!”
Somewhere between a scream and a honk.
Lovelace and Nick kind of frozen still,
As they saw Yukimon looming over the hill.
Yukimon, what is it you do?
Oh, Yukimon, what is it you do?
You’re standing there blocking the way they’re going through.
Oy, you’re standing there blocking the way they’re going through.
You’re standing there blocking the way they’re going through.

“Skreeonk” is the official, actual way to write Godzilla’s distinctive roar. 😀

Why? It doesn’t sound anything like Godzilla. It sounds like a goose. And even if it did sound like Godzilla, there are two syllables (notes?) missing.

It’s in the Wikipedia article. I wouldn’t know unless I’d happened to run across it myself a few months back. I agree though, it’s not as onomatopoeic as it should be.

Precisely my point. There’s definitely an “ee” sound followed by a lower vowel of some sort, but it doesn’t sound anything like any variation on the theme of “onk”, and there’s still two extra syllables unaccounted for.

          Maybe “Kreeah-uhon“?

I’m with BrokenEye, here. Godzilla’s roar doesn’t star with an ‘s’ or ‘k’ sound. I could see “Reeonk” with a little bit of stretching but “Skreeonk” is a weird way of doing it.

Jeff said one thing in that interview that made me laugh out loud. “Things start getting kind of weird from this point on…” – like it hasn’t been, up to now?

But of course! Would you expect anything less from a Whimsy character, even in this simulation? And you have to admit, he does look truly abominable.

Japanese titles sometimes are a bit dumb. Inuyasha is literally “demon dog”.

Since a rough equivalent of that attraction would be Expedition Everest, Nick shouldn’t really be all that surprised to encounter a Yeti-like creature.
