There are still technical aspects to consider. A gun that just shoots a stream of napalm would really be just a flamethrower, so this has to be something different…like a rifle that shoots bulletlike projectiles which explode into flaming balls of napalm when they hit their target. Not that I was ever associated with the design or construction of any such device, ever, no really it’s just a thought experiment, and besides the little magnetic bottles interact badly with the rifling…but I digress.
The M202 Flash is a napalm rocket launcher, clearly an entirely different thing.
The real question is why they had multiple napalm rifles in their gear that they hadn’t noticed until now…

Then again, there are other naming conventions:

Napalm rifle in the sense of Air Rifle or Black Powder Rifle, a rifle that uses napalm as the energy source.

Napalm rifle in the sense of dear rifle or elephant gun, a rifle designed for hunting napalms.
        What’s a napalm, you ask?
Neurologically Augmented Protoplasmaticly Armored Living Mechanisms, very intelligent synthetic flesh covered robots, of course.

That “dear rifle” comes in handy for mariticide.

“a rifle that shoots bulletlike projectiles which explode into flaming balls of napalm when they hit their target”

Sort of a cross between a Molotov Cocktail and a High Explosive Squash Head artillery shell? Sounds handy for working at distance and/or precision, and there’s probably a fair bit of existing tech to base it on.

    Some thoughtful words
    And reasoning sublime
    Are for the birds!
    I’m thinking it is time
    To start this show!
It’s time to raise the bar!
    We’ll show GODOT
Just who and what we are!
      (Anasigma, Anasigma!)

So watch out now, we’re o-pen-ing
A can of whoop-ass on this thing!

     Once more, we use C-4!
     Weapons automatic
     Are so diplomatic!
     We’re keeping cool and calm
     Using nitro and na-palm!

“Oh, that’s just a nickname. It’s actually a Cancer Rifle. It’s called a Napalm Rifle because of how much the urinary tract cancer it makes your pee burn.”

Hmmm…probably the M202 FLASH, a weapon still nominally in the Army’s inventory.

What the hey indeed, what fool would chose rifles when you could make napalm machine guns

Most of the time I’d agree, but much depends on the situation and how precise your shot needs to be, plus maybe the range and a few other factors. Maybe they intend to do some napalm sniping or something.

But no one said A-sig didn’t have napalm machine guns somewhere, too….

Given the door in question looks like solid steel, I very much doubt napalm rifles would have much effect. Explosives, on the other hand…

Give a napalm rifle to Unity and it should keep her busy for 5-10 minutes. But if she discovers the atomic rocket launchers… *shudder*

It just seems like the delivery vector for napalm doesn’t gel with rifle technology… but then, I don’t work for Anasigma.
Except in the sense that ultimately, everyone works for Anasigma. Just not in an official capacity.

@Ben Jims: if you don’t work under daily threat of extirpation, you don’t work for Anasigma.

Now if I only knew what extirpation was, I could figure out if *I* work for Anasigma…

And yet, there’s no one whose actions don’t further Anasigma’s operations. In the end, aren’t we all under the heel of the mad science Illuminati???

This is a napalm rifle, Virginia. You might recognize the brain of the intern displaying it.
