Ouch, poorly placed word baloon in panel 1. I thought we were overhearing some REALLY weird conversation by one of the new guys, instead of fairly normal UNITY conversation.

Other than that, *meep* I wanna give bubbles a hug.

To be fair, it technically still is some really weird conversation between agents

Is it really weird for Unity?

The fact that Unity can understand Bubbles at all is really weird.

Don’t you understand her ingenious native language?

In retrospect, considering that Unity is – in point of fact – made up of a gazillion little machines, it isn’t surprising at all that she can easily understand Bubbles.

Wait. That’s a new word for her. This should be a good thing, but I’m scared.

Not quite new, but I think this is the first confirmation that it wasn’t a one-off.

There’s a joke in there about bureaucrats and G-men in general, but I’ll let the rest of you fill in your own version. 😀

“…like how they taste.” We could take that two ways…Unity no doubt meant it one way…but how many ways did Shaenon and Jeff mean it?

Huh. Is there significance to the bubbles connecting Bubble’s dialogue boxes to the lines? It looks like the intersections are meaningfully irregular. Sometimes the lines on the side extend to within the bubble. Sometimes there’s a dot inside the bubble. Sometimes the connecting line extends within the bubble, and sometimes there’s a pip on top without any line at all connected to it.

If they do have meaning, that’s 5 bits of information (top, bottom, left, right, center), extending the message inherit in the dialogue box 32-fold. For dialogue boxes like her last one, which have a bubble on top and bottom, 1024-fold. Even if they’re not being used to maximum potential (say, each one is a flag, rather than the five bits representing 32 distinct values), that’s five intonations/emotions for each.

Natively, she’s got six words to work with (not, service is my only joy), so if there is some intent behind these patterns it significantly extends her dialogue. Anyone have any idea? I’m probably just reading too much into an arbitrary art detail.

That style of speech bubbles (pun not intended) is actually shared by all other office appliances. And Sweetdaddy Jupiter Velvet.

If Bubbles went on a rampage it would be a rampage of joyful service.

Maybe I should be reading comments more often than I do, but this whole thing with the MIB seems wrong. Now that Unity is in it independently of sweetheart that should reassure me I guess but – still something is not as it appears
