It’s basically the same joke as Kryten from Red Dwarf complaining that “2X4B” is a “jerky” middle name, but at least it’s not “2Q4B”. It’s characters with serial numbers treating them as names, and seeing as much distinction between them as we do with actual names.
I guess it’s kind of funny. The turtle picked a good number, but you wonder whether he has the height, mitts, or speed to play quarterback in a modern NFL offensive system.
They don’t become real if they just add more imaginary friends. They have to reproduce with each other, because they only become real when they multiply.
I guess I have to chalk that up to fail on my part. Jokes don’t work if you have to explain them. But, the joke was that i to the fourth power is equal to one, i.e. real number, so a real friend.
I had a dream about Skin Horse last night! Someone (presumably Anasigma although my dream never really specified) had captured Dr.Lee and Nera and put them in a small room. Then, they started letting these insectoid robots into the room (the robots were from an episode of a TV show I had watched the evening before, here’s a link to an image of them https://i.ytimg.com/vi/4ZHt9tTLkmQ/maxresdefault.jpg ).
But instead of being terrified, they were excited by the level of technology in the robots. Dr.Lee even picked one up and commented on how adorable it was. The dream ended with them getting rescued by Nick.
That was indeed the question. Granted, if we got this far in the comic, we’d know about the double identities thing, but that kinda means the story doesn’t work as a standalone, right?
I’m getting flashbacks of the Madblood androids, and I’m remembering how Dave could actually tell who was who.
Two to the eighth power?
For some reason, my earlier reply attached below.
I’m not seeing the humor here.
I’m guessing #256 is really into color computer monitors from the early ’90s.

Perhaps your own moniker precludes you from finding number names amusing.
A turtle might be good at hiding in the pocket though.
(I know #12 doesn’t have to be a quarterback, but it’s wasting the number if it isn’t.)
I think it’s funny, but maybe it’s because I’m trans.
The name’s 12, Number Twelve. The Z is silent.
Mith Thmith was right.
Exponential growth? Hinting at a viral solution for a plot point?
Who is #1?
When not time-traveling or letting the dogs out.
You are #6.
(No comma. Seriously, listen to the line, in any episode’s opening. There’s no comma.)
W
We are.
(No idea why that posted before I could finish typing.)
Who’s number 650? (There were that many cups of milk. One to a turtle?)
A very sad turtle who complains he’s the last at everything.
That would be telling.
What gets really awkward is when multiple tortoises have imaginary friends. They can’t all be #i.
Nah, the imaginary friends can be 2i, 3i, 4i, etc. No need to make it complex 😀
The frightening part is when imaginary tortoises have imaginary friends too.
When tortoise i had an imaginary friend, and that one had an imaginary friend, and that one had one…that tortoise’s friend was REAL!
The second imaginary friend would have been real, but the body…no, don’t ask.
They don’t become real if they just add more imaginary friends. They have to reproduce with each other, because they only become real when they multiply.
Strike that. Since i x i is -1, they’d still be imaginary.
I guess I have to chalk that up to fail on my part. Jokes don’t work if you have to explain them. But, the joke was that i to the fourth power is equal to one, i.e. real number, so a real friend.
Well, now you’re talking about grandchildren, and who could ever imagine that?
I hear she’s a real square.

I’m not sure what that says about me.
I guess it says that you have a pretty good grasp of what Virginia and Nera are like.
To be fair, those are adorable killbots.
What show are those bots from?
Yeah, their cooters will poot.
Why is this entry in the comic-title-story called “ira-greens”, when there are two character names of “ira rosenkranz” and “ari green”?
If you put all the web page addresses together, they tell a story.
I think the question is why it says “ira-greens” instead of “ari-greens”.
And why is there an ‘s’ at the end?
Because there’s no punctuation in the filenames. The whole sentence in the filename story is “Gavotte was Ira Green’s subordinate.”
That was indeed the question. Granted, if we got this far in the comic, we’d know about the double identities thing, but that kinda means the story doesn’t work as a standalone, right?
Number 12 is a very nice turtle, I like them!
