Now, my buddy Sweetheart found me!
She’s pacing all around me!
Just hear that girl complain!
With my new friend I’m dining,
But my babe just won’t stop whining
‘Cause I went and ate a brain!
When I tell her why she’s worried,
Then off she quickly scurried!
She didn’t long remain!
See, when smarter I’m gettin’,
Then her leadership I’ll threaten
‘Cause I went and ate a brain!
Let’s raid … the Brain-O-Mat
That Doc Lee showed us yesterday!
When Sweetheart noticed that,
She ran away
To my dismay!
Chewing neurons by the sackful,
It makes me less than tactful …
Our friendship feels the strain!
It was wrong to confront her,
But my conversation’s blunter
‘Cause I went and ate a brain!
Ok, so that “Do me next” could mean dibs on the next brain-powered psychoanalyzing or it could be “Do me next” in the biblical sense. Dare I ask what the third potential meaning in this triple-entendre is?
“Why are smart people in fiction always mean and blunt?”
In Fiction, characters can get away with behavior that would cause problems in the real world.
Being constantly surrounded by people who are oblivious to things that blazing obvious to you is incredibly annoying, and you find yourself wanting to just snark at all the dolts, but you refrain to maintain a veneer of being civilized, despite the stress that being polite causes you.
These brains seem to have odd side-effects on Unity. Perhaps the replication is slightly flawed, or perhaps Ginny just used her own DNA for the base (for all her intelligence, she’s not all that subtle herself)? But of course, Unity has an unusual response to brains — what would these be doing to other types of zombie?
Unity always gets more somber and pragmatic when she’s high on brains. Probably because she suddenly realizes there’s a lot of things she can do with them and not enough time.
Well, if they’re fresh then they’re probably barely adult brains, so: yeah, they’re gonna be blunt.
Or it’s the brain of the average surly twitter troll respondent.

Next time I do that I’m blaming it on eating overly blunt brains.
I read KT’s line as a slightly disturbing triple-entendre.
I didn’t, but now I am and it’s SO much better that way.

3. Eat her brain next. (Remember, she gets stupider when she indulges, so she really isn’t thinking at all right now.)
Thanks, that makes sense. I guess that means I can put away my emergency vat of brain bleach for now.
I was thinking coffee keeps me from doing this “blunt” thing too often, and thus coffee must be putting an edge on my thoughts.
Why are smart people in fiction always mean and blunt? Moreover, why does this make them slightly endearing?
(Answer: It’s because they’re saying what we want to, with added sharpness of insight)

I thought that’s what I just said :p
Tip won’t realize it’s much too late for what? Foreshadowing!
Much too late to avoid the giant frogs….

Got to love Sweetheart’s goggle-eyed look in panel 3. Not only is she threatened by U.N.I.T.Y.’s intelligence, she’s utterly gobsmacked by it.
Admittedly, the rarity of the event might explain the shock . . .
Or she’s pondering the secrets that she is in fact hiding.
Such as being in love with Unity…
It’s occurred to me that this place has a comments section. I can now inform you (whoever it is that’s reading this) that I started something.
