I ws gonna guess Independence, but that might be too far east. Could be Wichita, but Oklahoma also appears to have eaten everything east of Parsons.

I think it’s between Emporia and Wichita, a.k.a. the most boring stretch of interstate through Kansas. (Okay, that’s not much of a contest.)

How ’bout this? Whatever part of Kansas Dorothy Gale was from, that’s where they are.

Makes sense that area would attract the strange and wonderful. Didn’t Smallville have an empty lot that used to be the old Gale place?

It’s just a conspiracy of cartographers.

Emporia is sus just on general principles, but this looks to be south of there in the Empty Quarter east of Wichita centered on Howard.

And this is how the biomass wins.

it tricks them to focusing on it while the hippies unleash their hidden plan destroy every goverment and unleashing a new age of chaos and madness inspired lunacy to prevent normality from ever returning.

And considering that that’s where the main protagonists are he’s probably sort of right…

    Sometimes,
    Some vines,
    Go spreading further yet.
    But in Green’s,
    Dark schemes,
    He sees a greater threat.
That hippie commune has got to fall,
    That’s why he’s gonna call,

    C-C-C-Carbondale!
    Lesser danger!
    C-C-C-Carbondale!
    Could be stranger!
    Although the biomass,
    Makes whole states drown,
Those long haired peaceniks need kept down,
    C-C-C-Carbondale!

Thought their Kansas encampment would be closer to Kansas City. I keep hearing they’ve got some crazy little women there.

To be fair, the biomass is pretty much a one trick pony. 🙂

When it works against just about everything, do you really need more than just the one trick?

With everyone and everything the Biomass has subsumed, I’ve no doubt that it has a lot more than one trick up its proverbial sleeve.

There are much more boring stretches of Interstate in Kansas!

Not that I want to help the genocidal maniac, but it’s a plant-based biomass. Has Ira considered firebombing it while his main force takes out the Kansas resistance and then mopping up whatever is left afterward?

He already tried that once. It survived, and it’s pissed off.

Clearly, the problem is that he didn’t firebomb it _enough_. More Dakka!

I may not know faraway exotic places like Kansas, but I did know someone who once hunted deer at Fort Riley sometime in the 80’s. Range 300 yards. 1 round, HE. And they were even surprised they couldn’t find a trace of the deer at the impact point when they checked. (not smart, but slightly insane) Keep the hippies away from the wrong side of the mobile artillery.

Sounds like a direct fire engagement with a 155.
The carcass was in the area, but the small pieces were scattered in many directions well away from the impact point. Modern warfare is a very wet business and we’d do well to avoid it whenever possible.

I am firmly against gun control in general, but anyone stupid enough to hunt deer with explosive ammunition has proven beyond any doubt that they should never be allowed to carry any kind of weapon more dangerous than a flyswatter.

In this universe the flyswatter probably shoots exploding knees.

St. Charlie is under control. But there are two other fronts to cajole. The Carbondale Biomass spreads near to Ohio fast. But that hippie encampment’s their goal.

By that map, it looks like the biomas has taken most of PA and some of Maryland.

I’m a bit concerned by the number of people that its probably killed. Like one major city at least?

“Okay, from which front should we create a ragtag group of survivors with a grudge next?”
