Handwave: The swear filter may reset to some basic defaults if he doesn’t use a word as a swear for some period of time.
You can do an easier one: It doesn’t recognize a word as profane unless he tries to use it that way.
Other handwave: Adding a word to the swear list doesn’t remove it from the substitutions list.
