Incoming Mook Horror show. Nick is about to go Predator crossed with HAL 9000 on those poor goons.

      BWAA-HA-Ha-ha!

Dr. Lee: “I don’t understand how these restraints just popped open! I designed them to be power-fail safe!”
Sweetheart: “Don’t worry about it. I can see in the dark. Let’s go!”
      Dr. Lee: “Is someone screaming?”

Which would be more terrifying if you were a goon in the dark with light amplification visor?

Seeing Nick’s shadow silhouetted in the intersection up the hall just before all your electronics fail.

Or seeing Unity rampaging toward you to rescue Sweetheart?

The next step is hitting them with the brightest floodlights you can find, in order to dazzle and disorient them prior to dynamic entry, so I don’t think a guy with his night vision switched on is gonna see much of anything for a while.

One is dread. The other, terror. Same emotion in two different flavors.

Nick looks very non-threatening, and I doubt anyone at A-Sig knows about his abilities.

Unity, on the other hand, is well-known and looks terrifying when she’s charging right at you.

I didn’t get to say this last time, technically he and anasigma are betraying humanity.

Well, I guess it’s all a matter of opinion. Mr. Green believes that destroying all the non-human “monsters” will save humanity, and has used that belief to justify all manner of evil actions. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t think he’s betraying humanity, and he’s probably got most of his employees (at least those who care about more than the next paycheck) sold on his worldview.

A-Sig is betraying society as a whole, but they are (or at least claim to be) preserving humanity by eliminating all the non-humans.

Hence their belief that the Skin Horse gang is betraying humanity by defending the non-humans.

It’s twisted, messed up reasoning, but it does follow a certain reasoning.

The problem with A-Sig’s reasoning is that that most of the non-humans aren’t a threat to humanity simply because they don’t reproduce. There are a couple of exceptions, like Sweetheart’s pack (though I suspect the small gene pool will doom them anyways), but most of them are one-offs. So the concern about the non-humans replacing humans is pretty much a non-starter.

By that logic, shouldn’t they be worried about humans creating nonhumans? I’m pretty sure that just proves that it’s just a shoddy excuse.

Oh so now they have to be popular in order to not die? Who knew evil organizations were so shallow?

Well, imagine the boost they’d get if they could advertise that “Celebrity X is now supporting our neo-fascist movement!” Imagine all the “Likes”! If it clicks, it’s slick!

And the persistent little touches like the barred window in the background of panel one carry continuity across strips…

Ira cares. And he’d be pretty mad if this generic goon disposed of Dr. Lee without his say-so.

Indeed. I have no doubt that Ira believes that Virginia will come around eventually, and that then they can be together evilly ever after.

When is Sweetheart going to realize that, like almost all dogs – dachshunds and similar tubular dogs excluded – that her chest depth is greater than its width and if she were to turn sideways she’d be free?

My dog figured that out a long time ago. He also figured out how to open zippers and pull the taping off piped seams. Then again, this is the same dog who routinely crashes into the baby gate at the top of the stairs when the cats taunt him. No matter how smart they are they’re still dogs by nature.

That goes along with what I said on Tuesday.

Basically, Sweetheart is only restrained because she believes she is.

Which makes a lot of sense, given Sweetheart’s personality. If the rules say she is to be a damsel in distress, then she doesn’t really consider any alternatives.

Ginny has far too much pride in this facility to permit a shoddy electrical system. Let her repair it and she’ll return to the comfort of her prisoner restrains directly.

Disposable nobodies restrain. So worthless that none will complain. He’s hyper-aware that no one will care, but the power-off shows that’s not plain.

It just occurred to me that the goon’s speech in Panel 2 can be considered ironic foreshadowing. Somebody who does care is coming after them because they went missing, to the (presumably) dismay of all the goons in the facility. Others have probably already noticed this, I just wanted to call attention to it.
