Heh, yeah, that’s annoying, as the world gets more modern you’re supposed to keep up with blogs instead of more direct communication. Isn’t it spelled opossum?
Officially, the North American nocturnal marsupial is the opossum, transliterated from the Algonquian name for the animal. But it is often informally called just possum.
Meanwhile, the small Asian and South Pacific marsupials looked very similar to the opossum, but different enough that the British actually named them possums. https://www.grammarly.com/blog/opossum-vs-possum/
I’m still using Usenet. In addition to some local-to-my-ISP newsfroups, alt.folklore.computers and rec.arts.sf.fandom are still reasonably active. (Though most of my old haunts are now just the occasional “hey, and old-timers still here?” post.
Oh, this is SO on point. I have no issue with people using various online social channels to communicate (none of which I use), but I do take issue with quite a few using them for OFFICIAL stuff (ie. anything that you NEED to be aware of as opposed to “might want to”) exclusively, which – even in 2020 – should be conducted through traditionally accepted means – yes, I do have a postal address. I do have a phone number. I do have an email address. Yes, Facebook or whatever else might at some point become the universally accepted standard even for official stuff. NO, IT ISN’T THAT YET – “de facto” standard is NOT the same thing.
Agreed, and if you’re going to be regularly wanting to get information to someone(s) specific it’s best to find out which channels will actually work for them.
Annoyingly I can’t sign up for a bunch of things with my primary email address due to idiots who didn’t pay attention when signing up for stuff. What’s really facepalm worthy is that I’ve gotten emails for important stuff (like banking) because someone didn’t make sure they had the right email address. https://xkcd.com/1279/
Yup, in agreement here, too. The school around here – despite having an actual website, even – puts all of its updates out on Facebook. Seriously, wtf? I don’t have a FB account (anymore) and have no desire to ever get one again.
What is Sweetheart packing? When they got off at the Habakkuk, they didn’t have any luggage. I didn’t see any later, far as I can tell from a glance through the storyline page.
Unity did change shirts a couple of times, and Tip, well, we know his mystical powers with clothing. (Remy had a shoulder bag, filled with arms and legs and rattles of various sizes, but he came separate.)

With mad science? who knows?

In the Skin Horse universe, is Google Reader still a thing?
Maybe it’s still a real thing, but hidden behind a Black Ops Social Services “Somebody Else’s Problem” field?
Somebody Else’s Possum
Who in their right minds would expect a covert government organization like Skin Horse to pay any attention to current events? o_O
Given the number of disasters they resolve / cause / both, it’s not surprising that they might be a bit distracted.
Ah, yes… the Generation Gap rears its ugly head.
Gap? The older I get, the more it’s a yawning chasm.
Really, it should be Tik-Tok.
Instagram? I have to wonder what the script said back in 2007
MySpace
Dial-up BBS.
That might be going back a bit too far.
Usenet!
What? I was definitely still using Usenet in 2007. I distinctly remember wondering where everybody was.
(Twitter, as it turned out.)

I do spend way more time on Twitter, admittedly.
I still use the Google Groups web interface to Usenet.
“Greenbacks Hollow Crisis” sounds like a euphemism for running out of money to me!
So… just another day in the Civil Service

Just keep in mind that when the Russians found out we could hack damn near _anything_ they deliberately went back to paper records.
But what about the “I’m coming for you!” dreams?
Sweetheart told Elena about them; now they’re her problem. That’s how it works, isn’t it?
They left to go find Pavane and figure out what’s going on. She was letting Jonah know and he dropped this on her.
What is Sweetheart packing? When they got off at the Habakkuk, they didn’t have any luggage. I didn’t see any later, far as I can tell from a glance through the storyline page.

Souvenirs!
But Unity ate them!
I see that Nera is enjoying a cool, refreshing Ellman’s soda.
Is that it? I thought it was a can of Mello Yello.

Can’t track it down. Can find Ellman’s Reagent, which is something I could see Helen making Dave drink, but not something Jonah Yu and Nera would.
