June 2018 Wallpaper: My Pal Bitey
Shaenon: Last month I got to visit London and see the National Gallery. It reminded me of how much I love the paintings of Henri Rousseau, so this month I did a Rousseau-inspired illustration.

Channing: Man, this is one of the prettiest things to ever come out of something I originally intended as a stupid one-off gag.
Lovely meat-eating plants, aren’t they?
Is that Helen and Dave’s island?
LOVE IT! In my head this was immediately titled “Dangerous Things” because of all the carnivorous plants, Bitey frolicking among the foliage and hunting for prey, and (the most dangerous of all) Artie relaxing with a good book. So peaceful! So comfortable! So deadly! <3 <3 <3 I hope this shows the future of Madame Cypress; it looks so much better than her present.
Probably reading the Necronomicon, In the original Mad Arabic… Bitey seems to be a bit (npi) more like his original self. Or HT’s flunky finally got the inevitable done to him… It may not be Narbon’s Island; no weapon scorches to be seen…
I got the impression that Artie is reading aloud — to sooth the plants.

Is that a large, carniverous hollyhock?
