Cobra Sketches
Shaenon: Dr. Lee and cobras. Two of my favorite things to draw. Also, baby doodles!
Or maybe toddler doodles. He’s getting pretty big.
Channing: Sometimes I kinda envy Robin, growing up in a house with Cool Parents Who Can Draw Stuff. Drawing Stuff always seemed like magic to me when I was a kid, and I was always amazed to visit the home of one of my childhood friends whose mom was an amateur cartoonist. I was all like YOUR MOM IS SO AWESOME NELS. This is (I assume) what Robin’s friends will feel about Shaenon and Andrew.
The second picture down looks like a different girl/woman.
I believe that’s Bubbles
No, it’s Lee, letting her hair down and being happy watching the cobra’s sleep
Drawing is awesome. So is storytelling. Creating world’s for me to enjoy.
worlds. Stupid autocorrect. It does keep me on my toes.
Cute doodles.
It was showing 3 comments, went to 0 when I clicked on it. So, we’ll see if posting fixes it.
Yep, the other comments appeared.
Dunno, but it never seems to happen to me…proves nothing.
For what it’s worth, your first post has no link-in-the-name, but your second post does.
Going back to the previous day repopulated the comments.
If that’s Dr. Lee in the center, I didn’t recognize her without her glasses.
I love the twirl twirl twirl on the hair .
“Baby snakes! She’s got the cutest little baby snakes!” (With apologies to Wing and a Prayer Fife and Drum Corps.)
The snakes are cute, but not in the same league as the young ‘un! Does he still enjoy the Happy Apple?
Robin on the right is wearing his “Same thing I do every night- try and take over the world!” expression!
I just got back from YouTube. On second thought, Wing and a Prayer Fife and Drum Corps owes *me* an apology…
How ’bout apologizing to Al Jolson, too?
But you know, Robin won’t be impressed by his parents, because kids never are. He’ll be all, “Geez mom, stop drawing me already,” and he’ll be impressed by his friend’s mom who is a mechanic. It’s his friends who will be impressed that his parents make a living from cartoons.
You are today’s winner, Manifesta!
…and the baby cobra rolling it’s eyes is just the cutest little thang!
Can anyone read the palimpsest that is the first drawing?
The first set of lines appear to be notes on the covers of the Skin Horse collections- color and characters featured.
“Blue – Tip”
“Red – Unity & Sweetheart”
“Green – Tip & Tigerlily”
“Yellow – Moustachio & Gavotte”
“Pink – Nick”
“Grey – Dr. Lee”
“Violet – Water Cooler”
“Crimson – Unity?”
Below that… this appears to be a quote of one of Tip’s iconic lines, but I can’t make out the beginning.
“[something something] I specialize in stupid conflict resolution.”
Thanks! You should take a look at the Voynich Manuscript sometime!
This is supposed to be a reply to LittleSallyDigby, but I am not able to reply directly for some reason.
I think we now know the significance of the colors of the book covers (if someone besides me hadn’t already figured it out earlier, and I missed it). Those colors match the “[color] Fairy Book” anthologies edited by Andrew Lang.
