What’s with Nick? He seems to be becoming more and more, um… objective.

Perhaps he is still in “This is all a game. None of this is real!” mode in spite of the incident with the gun. Or perhaps this is another example of Whimsy having messed with his mind. >_>

It’s Horror Movie Syndrome: when confronted with an artificial “reality” where someone has gone out of their way to make it as dreadful as possible — even more horrific than day-to-day living in a world riddled with disease, disaster, poverty, and misery is — then the sanest reaction is to treat it all as a spectacle and not buy into the horror of it all. It’s a practical application of our tendency towards reality-blindness.

I’m thinking most people would prefer to see it from outside the T. rex, though.

But she’s getting the unique one-of-a-kind experience only a VR theme park can provide.

      More than once.

Eh, some people are into that, assuming the T. Rex doesn’t chew.

Hahaha……no, there’s a soft and hard to into that, and hard is into the chewing.

Crocodiles don’t chew, but being bitten by one is still quite a specialised interest.

      Unity would without, a doubt.
I wouldn’t be surprised by Tip knowing, either.

Wouldn’t that be a bit too niche to base a theme park on though…? Unless it’s an optional extra or something….

Considering I had to look that up, “niche” doesn’t cover the half of it! (And I’ll be sending you my therapy bills, Alphaghoul. ;-p~~~ )

“And only I survived to tell the tale.” —“Moby Dick,” I think—but it could be something else.

Job 1:15 “…and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.” Used as title of last chapter of Moby-Dick.

Lovelace might prefer something from Jonah in this case: “Out of the belly of hell cried I, and Nick heardest my voice.”

The saloon window across the street says “Baron’s.” Did Baron Mistycorn get there ahead of them and open a bar? Another one of his selves? The guy from the bonus story in Volume Five?

Maybe he’s the kind of character who ends up in spoofs of different genres. Or maybe it was something like “Fievel goes West”

Since this is VR, there is nothing to keep “down the gullet” from being “down the rabbit hole”. Dimensions mean nothing here except as a frame of reference.

Ick. As a kid I watched a cartoon in which a little girl fell into her TV screen… I was very careful around the TV after that…

If something like that happens here, you’ll have to be careful around T. rexes from here on out.

I avoid wardrobes for pretty much the same reason.

I smiled at the four-legged fast-kicking Lovelace of panel 3, thinking, “typical comic action”–then suddenly realized Nick might be seeing that too! In Whimsyality, that would be a perfectly appropriate VR effect.

He is still employed by Whimsy and may still be evaluating the game as a playtester while also trying to rescue Aimee.
