I really think he probably just sees it as is- reality blindness is for things that couldn’t exist without a mad touch, but on it’s own this is just a sculpture, there’s no need for madness in just a sort of weird piece of art. People are perfectly willing to accept ‘…Guess it’s a Banksy?’
This story arc showed clearly that reality blindness affects non-humans as well. The rats saw the drone as a real rat, and saw Cinnamon as a human child. It took Artie several tries to finally get through to Valiant that his “fair flower” was really a robot.
Reality blindness simply causes the mind to ignore whatever it can’t accept as “normal”. Everyone has a different degree of reality blindness, however. The rats – themselves being something unnatural – obviously aren’t totally reality blind. Dave’s brother Bill had a severe case. He couldn’t see Artie at all in his gerbil form.
I doubt it – the drone was targeted by the bomb sent to destroy the colony. We saw Artie and Valiant mourning beside the burn mark that was all that was left.
So remember Ratty McRatterson / Who Valiant thought was hot / And for his reward we stuck him up / In an In-N-Out parking lot. – after the Clancy Bros.
“In the eons to come, if only one thing remains of our civilisation, let it be this.” (That’s pretty much how I feel about the grave of Emperor Norton, too.)
Must be the work of the same artist that did the Victory Cruller…
Did they even make a fake name? And why does it say fellow disgusting rodent?
Did you miss a few strips along the way?
This is how the drone introduced themselves. “I am Ratty Mcratterson, a fellow disgusting rodent.”
Of the Boston McRattersons, too. Dunno if they reside in St. Charlie or elsewhere in the city.
I’m surprised the Westie isn’t “lifting its leg” on the monument. It looks like the sort of thing a dog would like to mark.
Maybe the dog is confused, struggling for reality blindness. For that matter its surprising the dog-walker sees it well enough to be confused.
I thought reality blindness only affected humans… For that matter, I wonder what the dog walker actually sees.

I thought it was just “rule of funny”, like Bugs Bunny’s disguises!
Reality blindness affects all sapients, though presumably that dog isn’t sapient.
‘Lee’ is an old english word for shelter or protect. The drone pilots protected the rat colony. Now they’re remembered in stone.
There’s a chapter title, folks!
I was under the impression that the chapter title was a “Rats of NIMH” reference.
Oh, yeah, definitely. But the title also generally directly relates to the events of the chapter too :P.
That isn’t a sculpture, that’s the drone.

The authorities here are clearly more tolerant of unauthorised statues than Bristol City Council were with Jen Reid’s one.

“Ah, Ratty, Ratty…you asked for love and they gave you a stone.”
Kudos to Shadowmehr for calling the team-up.
Thank you.
I like the little salute that it’s almost making, except its arm can’t articulate enough to do it.
Echo Bravo and Alfa Alfa may not have set out to make their mark in history, but the will not be long forgotten.
Okay, they themselves might be forgotten, but their alias will live on.

Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, theirs was the most… disgusting.
