That strikes me as poorly-worded. For instance, I’m entirely human (apart from tooth fillings), but I’m entirely capable of self-identifying as an intelligent nonhuman sapient.
I’m pretty sure a fox whose eyes are misplaced inside its mouth counts as a non-human, so yes. (that’s from a peculiar bad trip description reprinted in “Doctor Wood, Modern Wizard of the Laboratory” by William Seabrook)
Well, would you rather the sapient meme feels constantly threatened by people not thinking of it as a person but simply other, human people acting weirdly?
Wrong kind of identity. Attack helicopter is not a sexual orientation. There’s more to identity than who you’re attracted to. Or gender, for that matter.
Helicopter is kind of a weird identification, but in Nick’s case he has a pretty good excuse for it.
Some times it pays. I’ll bet that tip sounds female too. I have heard a few men sound female. I do over the phone. One of them husky women I think.

It’s a government protocol. What did you expect?
There’s a difference between being able to say that you are a non-human sentient and identifying as a non-human sentient.
Maybe. But it’s what the paperwork says that matters.
It doesn’t say they have to do it, just be capable of it. I’m pretty sure I’m capable of identifying as a non-human, if given enough hallucinogens.

Then you are officially not a human. Congratulations, unknown creature/thing!
Would you say that he… sexually identifies as an attack helicopter?

It’s not that weird, it’s his body identity.
I remind myself daily that this comic predates that meme by years.
