Well, at least — in a convoluted way — Sweetheart had a reason for her stupid idea. It just never occurred to her that Unity liked Bubbles because she was a girl, not because she was a robot.
I’m not sure whether or not Unity cares about the gender of those she likes, but I have no doubt that the reason Unity liked Bubbles was the same reason we all do – because of Bubbles’ sweet and generous personality. 🙂
Note to self: using (the pointy) brackets to surround ‘insert sexual euphemism here’ (after the ‘or’ ) in a comment system that apparently uses html doesn’t *quite* work.
In Sweetheart’s defense, her date with HT was such a disaster that it’s understandable why she might feel the need for some “practice dates”. On the other hand, everyone except Unity seems to be off their game, no longer even caring to investigate the cause of the reality blindness nor Tip’s loss of mojo…
Well, H.T.’s abuse of reality blindness was their top priority, until Sweetheart discovered that the receptionist frowned on random dogs, and the date was Niue’s idea to test the viability of drones as a partial solution.
Niue’s suggestion for going to dinner was just because she had attached herself to the drone. She is part macaw, after all. It was Maya who wanted to try a real-world test to prove the drone’s worth.
Being a Techno-zombie I think Unity is a one-off.
That is unless Dr. Lee reverse engineered Unity from regular zombies and added a few flourishes. If that’s the case then perhaps all zombies are the result of a nanomachine infection, probably of extra terrestrial in origin since they’ve been around for a very long time.
There’s Gavotte, who, as a swarm of bees, is also a gestalt entity. But she’s not quite the same, since she can’t exactly infest another body the way Unity and the Swamp can.
There is a certain rationale to Sweetheart’s mistaken assumption. Unity is a sentient gestalt inhabiting a humanoid body, and the only long-term romantic relationship she’s had (at least since we’ve known her) was with a sentient AI inhabiting a humanoid body.
Unity, as I see it, doesn’t _dislike_ robots, but is trying to express that (to use a human analogy) just because she once dated an Armenian doesn’t mean she’s a Caucasusexual.
I don’t know… I thought it was obvious that Sweetheart was being irrational when she agreed to going on a date with Niue in the first place, especially after Tip asked her “What about Unity?” I mean, thinking the drones were a good solution to the blindness was a little dense, but agreeing to a date with Niue — especially right after she and Unity had finally opened up about wanting to date each other — was over the edge.
“Church bells may ring,
And surely, darling, the angels will sing.
I’ll tell you, darling,
You’re the queen of my throne.
You should have known, Sweetheart, Sweetheart.”
That’s right!

After all, remember that Unity also liked Remy.
Good point.
And apparently she had dated Tip. Once.

Whoa! My reaction is the same as Marcie’s.
I guess ‘dating’ is one way to describe what Tip does.
Oh, forgot about that one! Thanks for sharing the link!
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that a date or isn’t what happened there

The date (or whatever you want to call it) is what Tip intended to happen, but yeah, it’s pretty obvious that it wasn’t what actually happened.
Not to mention, Bubbles’s remarkable eloquence.
This.^

It’s only been, what, a day?
While harsh I do agree with the conclusion that they are off their game, but they’ve not been off game for long

I guess I assumed more that Sweetheart would think Unity would be into humanoids over canids, not so much ‘robots’ exactly.
Are there other beings like Unity, other than the Swamp?

Trying to separate Caucasus and effect?
(rimshot)
After all, if *we* can see that Sweetheart is a goof, then Unity should be able to, as well.
Until Unity pointed it out, some of us thought that Sweetheart was behaving normally.

Heh, Unity seems just as surprised in the last panel as us that she’s being the smart one 😀
That was surprisingly self-aware
I think right now Sweetheart has transcended goofdom and is a full blown foob.
