I wonder which trope Nera’s going with– Dr. Lee and Nick trapped in a digital world that they can’t get out of without smooches (it usually doesn’t stop there), Dr. Lee ends up stuck in a copter as well and Nick shows her the ‘ropes’, or Nick gets his brain moved into a freshly-cloned body? Or any of the endless, endless amounts of other tropes? Somebody call Helen Narbon (the younger, not the elder); she could work the third option easily. <3

Yup; fanfiction about people who exist in the same world you do is known as RPF, or ‘Real Person Fandom/Fanfiction.’ The origins are debatable, but for the most part it seems to have taken off with fans writing wishful-thinking fics regarding romances between members of various rock bands (band fandom.) RPF has also been written about sports players, actors, writers… you name it; and slash (same-sex romantic-encounters) ficcage abounds among RPF writers. Trust me, if it exists, it can be written about and probably has been at least once.
Wait… “the only sane sapient”? What about Sweetheart and Unity? Yeah, okay, Unity is a little iffy sometimes. Sweetheart might be a bit narcissistic, but she’s not crazy.
Sweetheart found the world ending because she left a fire door open entirely plausible. She didn’t object to her alt self having people shot for forgetting to top up the parking meter. She is by far the least sane character in the entire strip, and that’s quite an accomplishment for a strip with so many mad scientists.

If Nera is using nick’s wifi, he doesn’t need to “take notes” as much as use his admin privileges.

Well, first off, Nick is way overestimating his level of sanity.

I dunno, Nick’s seems fairly sane – most of the time he seems pretty well grounded . . . . Ba ha ha!
