Love Skin Horse. But the interruptions in the story line….at this stage? It’ll be a while
before I allow myself to be ‘hooked in’ to another assuredly great work, and then ‘jerked around’ this close to climax.
I don’t do frustration well. Have no worries, I represent NO measurable demographic segment.
Shaenon & Jeffrey deserve at least one day off each week. They generate enough content and laughs in 6 days then many other strips do in 14 days. This format works for them,as y pappy use to say”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But do keep some duct tape close by! 🙂
With the exception of the Big Reveal about Ira, every single Sunday since the beginning has been an “interruption”. You’re not being “jerked around” – it’s just the way it’s always been.
I’ve never read a comic that ran regular strips 7 days a week. And most of the webcomics I read only update 2 or 3 times a week. So you should be glad to have Skin Horse 6 days a week.
I have a certain amount of regret that there’s no big Sunday strip in the continuity pages—but I can accept I have no way to make Ms. Garrity draw one.
“I’ve never read a comic that ran regular strips 7 days a week.”
I’ve seen the burnt-out shells that were web comic creators who, in their hubris, they dared promise seven comics a week. They were not the smart ones, these shattered husks. The smart ones cut back.
No, these poor souls soldiered on, until their minds broke under the strain. Some went mad openly, swearing their work was mere trash to be forgotten. Some vanished mysteriously, leaving plot threads dangling. And some…it is said that if you wander into Livejournal on a blue moon, you can find them, desperately trying to write that one last plot that will end the story.
Pity them, but be glad that others have learned from their mistakes.
The only webcomic I know of that updates every day is Schlock Mercenary (which started in 2000!). It’s on its final book now — roughly a year’s worth of strips.
And I gather that the way Tayler accomplishes new Schlock Mercenary comics seven days a week is by working ahead, so that he can take planned time off. (And, luckily, ended up having just enough of a buffer that he didn’t miss any days when he had to take unplanned time off.) An impressive record, though, no matter how you slice it.
Candace: Isn’t that what Skin Horse does, too? Regularly producing work close to the deadline doesn’t seem like it would be good for your peace of mind, whatever your schedule.
It looks like a stranger
Squawks like a stranger
Stalks like a stranger,
But we surmise,
It’s a zombie head disguise,
Oh, yes, it is,
A zombie head disguise.
You pooled up with persistence.
You made a double team.
Stevie Hugeface supplied for free,
All part of your regime.
It looks like a stranger
Squawks like a stranger
Stalks like a stranger,
But we surmise,
It’s a zombie head disguise,
Oh, yes, it is,
A zombie head disguise.
You thought this notion was clever
It was contrariwise.
Heaven help us, you didn’t grasp
The deadness in his eyes.
It looks like a stranger
Squawks like a stranger

But we surmise,
It’s a zombie head disguise,
Oh, yes, it is,

Looks to me like he’s still hovering around the same place he was before.
Seems like what Tip is hesitant to say is “Nick got it up, and Virginia is trying to help him get it back down so the rest of us can climb on for a ride.”
She’s a little more, er, lively, than Mr. Head.
Not that hard, really. It’s just a matter of degrees . . .

Without interruptions and digressions, there would hardly be a Skin Horse.

Duct tape and zip ties.

Once again Unity is … ahead of the game. 😀
I wonder if Unity is like Daffy Duck in that she has numbers on her body parts for just such as an occasion as this?
‘Very probably’ is my answer.

Looks like Nick is coming in for a landing in the background of panel 4.
Tip seems hesitant to share the bad news…
Looks to me like he’s still hovering around the same place he was before.
Seems like what Tip is hesitant to say is “Nick got it up, and Virginia is trying to help him get it back down so the rest of us can climb on for a ride.”
And they recovered his helicopter body, too.
(Drum sting)
Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!! 😀
“And oh, your girlfriend lost some weight and is in a great mood!”
^this!
The best way to lie is to tell the exact truth.
I suppose the next stop will be Remy in New Orleans to see if he’s got enough spare body parts in stock…
Unity could go for fresh parts just by hanging around any large inner city morgue.
Heck, Unity could go for fresh parts just by hanging around any large inner city. Period.
