Sweetheart’s been sent, um, upstate to a nice farm. Yeah, a farm. All of her old friends are there, and there are grassy fields for her to run around in. Plus there is a lot of farm-subsidy paperwork for her to fill out. You know how much Sweetheart loves paperwork.
No, we can’t go visit her. She’s much too busy filling out forms.
In her black ops outfit that’s so dressy,
Stand back, folks, this mission might get messy!
Now she’s in her spying gear,
And she’ll claim she wasn’t here …
She just got finished chloroforming Bessie!
[CHORUS:]
Shadow … Unity!
Shadow … Unity!
Yeah, a zombie in a catsuit
Makes the readers all go “Squeee!”
I feel a little better that “How much chloroform do you need to knock out a cow?” didn’t have any relevant results. One of my favorite episodes of the X-Files (“Bad Blood”) also failed to say how much chloral hydrate you need for the task, either.
“Yeah, a zombie in a catsuit
Makes the readers all go ‘Squeee!'”
Am I weird that I’m more turned on by the night vision goggles than the catsuit? Mmmmmm, Cute Zombie in Night Vision Goggles is definitely gonna be the hot “Sexy” costume this Halloween!
Hmmm…How CAN you tell when Unity is being surreal professionally, versus just as a hobby?
As a second question, just WHY did she chloroform the cow? I can’t imagine even Unity wanting to eat cow brains. Using a sledgehammer is to knock it out on a more permanent basis. Clearly, that’s not what she wants to do.
My reality is warped enough by today’s strip that the question of why she’s wearing night vision goggles in the daytime only came in third. The catsuit is so she can camouflage herself against the black parts of the cow.
Actually, it’s possible that Unity only THINKS the reason she’s giving chloroform to cows is to knock ’em out, and actually, there’s a very different reason for the assignment (and one that has nothing to do with cow brains). Chloroform is a known methanogenesis inhibitor, which means that giving certain amounts of chloroform to cattle reduces how much methane they produce while leaving the rest of their rumen function pretty much fine. (I don’t know what effect it has on dairy cows or on meat production, though I’d be interested in finding out!)
In other words, passing gas into cows means less passing gas out of cows.
We’ve seen her eat dog food, and I’ve seen dogs happily eating cow brain. Now obviously one thing does not necessarily imply the other, but I think it makes a strong case.
Looks like my comment yesterday has some merit. They just haven’t informed her she is only to keep crows away. She’s going after the cows now. Soon it will be the pigs, and then, soon, the corn itself!
Rad duds, Unity.
And I never pictured you riding off into the sunset riding a *dairy* cow – maybe a steer or the like.
Maybe she can find a mount like Mongo’s on that farm.
Mongo?… SANTA MARIA!
… what?
Go watch ‘Blazing Saddles’.
Actually, I rather expect to see her ride off on a cloned T-Rex that has acquired the equivalent of a third grade education, because Unity.
Or Buddy from mun1. Just because that’d be awesome.
In a setting like this I have to wonder if Sweetheart is off looking after “Timmy” and trying to make sure he gets rescued from the well. >_>

So sad. But they’ll get a new puppy as a replacement, right?
Please, there’s going to be a full shot of unity in that Full body catsuit.
Dictation forgot a word, please tell me there is going to be a full shot of unity in that Full body catsuit
(whispers I can draw you one)
“You didn’t see me. I was never there.” I’m sure a lot of Unity’s coworkers wish that were true every day.
Splintered (Brain) Cell.

Oh my goodness! My comment was Involved with the song 🙂

‘Cause you don’t use chloroform, you use a sledgehammer. (Yes, ew.)
Candy Kluge would probably be happier if she knew that before hand LOL
heh, the filename story segment for this strip is “Unity’s New Friend”.

Not really, there’s just something about thermal imaging…
Now, does this have to do with Unity’s new job, or is it just a hobby?
Dammit, Unity! You’re being a zombie Farmboy-block!
You get a pass for that awesome catsuit, but dammit, missy!
Hmmm…How CAN you tell when Unity is being surreal professionally, versus just as a hobby?

I only just realized that the “mnch mnch” is Bessie, not Unity.
