Just finished watching The Prisoner recently, and I was wondering if the if the midget might be Number One. My other thought was that Number Six might have been Number One all along, similar to Total Recall.
(Seriously, Patrick McGoohan has said that #6 was #1 all along in interviews. He’s also mentioned that the final episode was a deliberate mind screw and that you can read pretty much anything you want into it, so…)
Well, it was Mr. Green
Inside the machine!
Had to be him, couldn’t be any other!
Next time it should be in person,
If he’s wanting to be there!
He’s no longer got
Remote-driven ‘bot!
He’ll have to get funding to build another!
Or, he could make our day worsen,
If he’s wanting to be there!
”But-ter-milk pan-cakes”
Put on Violet’s brakes,
That was one of their mis-takes!
It was you, Mr. Green!
You’re so doggone mean!
Playing with us, you’re such a vicious mother–
You’ll have to face all my cursin’,
If you’re wanting to be there!
Mr. Green could be acting coy to distract her from a different controller. Why not General Sal? Nothing says Violet’s controller had to be a man, it was just strongly implied, concluded by our viewpoint characters, and stated by Violet herself that the controller was male.
I’m not entirely convinced. Not taking the effort to deny the claim is not the same thing as confirming the claim. Mr. Green enjoys being sneaky, after all. Plus, based on Violet’s early conversation with Nick, wouldn’t this also make him Goldbug? The first Nick mission (seemingly) did not go well for A-sig, and it was all (seemingly) Goldbug’s fault for throwing an unplanned(?) wrench into the works.
So either there are two Violet operators, or Mr. Green is far more of a sneaky and manipulative puppetmaster than I gave him credit for.
Ginny is a little ticked off… But then, she has a right to be: Among other things, she’s just realized that her boss made a pass at her. And then tried to kill her.
I’m waaay late on this, sorrybusy, but anyway – I remain a bit squicked that Dr. Lee isn’t squicked by the sexual harassment, just-barely-not-sexual-assault-if-you-squint by her boss.
Huh, my first attempt disappeared. *shrug*
A Prisoner reference? Nice!
And we still don’t know exactly who Number One is. How perfectly appropriate.
Yup, it looks like Mr. Green is #2 at best ;-)!
I still think the midget butler was Number One.

He was. Be seeing you! -_^ Heh heh heh

Every time Number Six asks the new Number Two “Who is Number One?”, the answer is “You are Number Six.”
“Be seeing you”, not “BEE seeing you”? Tsk. Tsk.
I KNEW it!

General Sal isn’t part of Anasigma, she’s US Air Force.
To be fair, being in the Air Force doesn’t mean she’s not part of A-Sig.

Or Mr. Green is a colony life form with multiple directing minds, rather than a single Queen….
To quote Elan:
DUN DUN DUN!!!

Virginia blushes – 16
17.
Wait, why would Mr Green sabotage the Whirligig project?
