Ah, Dr. Lee, this is why you need more fiction. Very little of this storyline to date would be particularly out of place in Brandon Sanderson’s Alcatraz books, although those are Evil Librarians rather than Notaries Public.

I like the Abbess drinking her tea with one finger in the background.

As impressive as it may be it’s also most improper and breaks one of the cardinal rules of tea drinking; “When tea is served, it must be handled with the highest degree of decorum.”
Now you may argue, ‘But that’s hot cocoa, not tea!’ to which I respond with yet another rule, “Any hot beverage served in fine china shall be treated as tea, with the exception of coffee.”

“Decorum” is somewhat subjective, as long as it’s dignified. Just because you personally would not do something in the presence of the Queen of England doesn’t mean that it is undignified. The Abbess is displaying supreme decorum.

Dr. Lee, on the other hand, is not. One simply does not slosh one’s tea cup.

“People keep moving my silliness benchmark” is basically Narbonic and Skin Horse in a nutshell.
