July 2011 Wallpaper
Shaenon: Believe it or not, I did this illustration three years ago for a marriage equality fundraiser in which I volunteered to go totally fangirl and draw any of my characters in same-sex pairings (thanks very much to everyone who participated!). Now that it’s canonical, I’m making it available in desktop wallpaper form.
As usual, if you make a donation in any amount to the Skin Horse Tip Jar, I will send you a link to the wallpaper. Each wallpaper design comes in two different aspect ratios (regular screen and widescreen) to fit most computer monitors, and in both Mac-friendly and PC-friendly orientations.
Channing: And lo, what once was merely fansquee is now canon. The wheel turns. I should note that I’ve always enjoyed this bit of art, and am glad for the canonization.
Funnily enough, I never saw this coming.
Whoa. What the hell? Artie is suddenly really tanned here… go figure.
He’s black. In the regular B&W comics, he’s just got some lines around the edges of his face and neck, on the backs of his hands etc. so that the artist can show the details of Artie’s face without it getting clogged up with lines. See: the black half of UNITY’s face.
Okay, now I’m almost positive you’re a troll.
Sweetheart and Gavotte! Moustachio and Nick! DR. LEE AND THE CYPRESS!
Oh, who am I kidding? Dr. Lee and Helen Beta’s kid, with either time-travel shenanigans or a timeskip.
EDIT! EDIT! EDIT! I forgot that lots of people (including myself) started with Skin Horse! Please do not approve the above, spoilery comment : /
Honestly, I’d call Artie more First Nations, or Latin American, than black, but maybe it’s the art style.
Tip did refer to him as Black a couple of strips ago.
And if you’ve read Narbonic, you’ll remember that Dave said that Artie is black.
And if you haven’t read Narbonic, you need to. Link is at the top of the page, in the “More by Shaenon” section.
