Consider it our side of the deal for being west of the West and east of the East. Every distinction is rooted on some point of view. Yours, at the Equator. For most Americans, in America. Even the staunchest of inhabitants of that area refer to themselves as Southern.
Wrong side of the Mason/Dixon Line, and therefore “Southern” as opposed to properly civilized Yankees.
And I DARE you to tell someone from Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi that they’re not “Southern”. Especially considering how touchy they are about having lost the Civil War (not that THEY ever admit it!).
Then again, why are we all arguing with a person whose avatar looks like the guard at the beginning of Myst 2: Riven who got killed by a Moiety rebel, anyway?
I believe the best point is to edit a quote from Dr. Who. “A lot of places have a [South].”
In THIS case, the southern states of the US. Within frame of reference, being the country, the term south or southern is correct.
Unless you’re so staunch a globalist you’re unable to recognize any such thing as a country.
And ever since the invention of Viagra, the South really _has_ risen again! XP
(Yes, I’m just teasing you Rebels about that. And before you call me a “dam’Yankee”, remember that where I’m from was still part of the Oregon Territory during that little North/South misunderstanding. -_^)
Northern Hemisphere therefore not “southern”… and you know it.
What the other guy said. Seriously, that distinction is pointless and frankly kind of insane.
Do you just hate the South? Your comments this storyline have been sort of weird.

To use another southernism…
Bless your heart.
This guy is either a crotchety pedant or a troll.

She said “Southern,” not “southern,” and you know it.
Seriously… ignore the troll.
I can’t remember when they left, but I’m pretty sure they’re gone.
Southern =/= Southern Hemisphere.
…and you know it.
Everything below the North Pole is southern.
Southern as in the southern USA and ya’ll know it.

Guys, I live in the East Midlands of an Island that is very much North. (England). Location is relative.
Gotta agree. Being relative is sort of the whole *point* of having directions in the first place- So we can relate one point in space with another.
Do you actually even speak English?
