Given the general level of technology seen, the navy must have (perhaps unknowingly) hired a mad scientist.
… which makes me all the more nervous, now that I think about it.
Worse than a clockwork machine from the 1800’s having a fully functional artificial intelligence?
The components of a nuclear reactor, sans the cooling and containment apparati, are about that small. So the real question is, what’s their wall safe made of, that it could adequately shield a reactor?
Maybe that’s why they never worked as planned. The navy didn’t have access to that wall safe.
