Like certain computer cases? I had one of those Power PC Mac clones that had a big thumb screw to get it open. But the gotchyah that really bugged me was that they hid an undocumented battery in the power supply block seemingly bricking the computer when it ran out. Planned f—ing obsolecense fer shur.
Assuming it’s the same override pass phrase for Nick, shouldn’t Sweetheart already know it? Dr Lee did tell her the code so she wouldn’t accidentally kill Nick… right?
Sweetheart, not being a Mad, might not have been willing to risk their lives on a total guess that it was the same password. Dr. Lee, on the other hand, had no problem making that leap.
Wait, there’s a brain in there? (Squishy… and how do they get it to take USB?)
Unless her neural interface is connected to the operator’s brain… is the operator’s brain also in a jar? That *does* sound like Anasigma – virtual Recall-holidays are cheaper than giving employees real vacations, after all!
I’m gonna swipe a robo-doll that I can call my own
A doll that other black ops cannot steal
Because those sneaky sneaky spies
With their sneaky sneaky lies
Will find that there is no way they can deal!
Sweetheart won’t know, no hella way I’ll tell her
That my fab doll collection has now grown
Now I have a robo-doll to call my own
A-Sig will never find their robo gal!
Sure, if you could get him to stop playing with himself long enough to do so. According to Shaenon, Nick was just being sarcastic when he said that Violet had no nipples. Since she tried to seduce Tip, I’m guessing that she is anatomically correct and capable. Like Data.
Actually, this might be a Chekov’s gun for a later storyline that the Violet Bee droid might act as a remote for Nick, or a disguise for U.N.I.T.Y. I’m not sure which would be more disturbing (or awesome).

Just saved us from Anasig …
Please, no fuss, it ain’t no big …
“But-ter-milk pancakes” means she don’t work no more!
They used my design now,
Thought it worked just fine now …
Ha, ha, ha! They left in my backdoors!
Secret words turned out her lights,
(I get hungry working nights)
Though this specific phrase I’ve not used before!
Power surge just hit her,
Took out her transmitter!
Ha, ha, ha! They left in my backdoors!
Unity’s collectibles are filling up the house!
Gotta work a bit
Just to fit one more! (doo doo doo!)
Crumbles into nothin’
If you say “bran muffin”!
Ha, ha, ha! They left in my backdoors!
I’m imagining someone accidentally reestablishing the link during a tea party, or a makeover session, or something. I’m also imagining the result being something zany.
“Free robot” is a thing that should happen more often. If you hang around outside your local mad lab, you may get one…. or more likely BECOME one after many trials and tribulations.

I love the flip-top head – makes me think of The Man with Two Brains, although those were screw-top.
The question is, can you get at Violet’s hardware without any tools (kind of like certain computer cases)?
Like certain computer cases? I had one of those Power PC Mac clones that had a big thumb screw to get it open. And of course, most of the G3 and all of the post-G3 PowerMacs and MacPros had a case you could open with no screws at all.
Would you like to play with my life-sized mechanical dollies? We’ll be reenacting Ray Bradbury stories.
As long as you’re not re-enacting really creepy episodes of “Criminal Minds”.

Wait, so you think not doing anything and letting Violet blow everyone up was safer?
Well, a careful scientist wouldn’t use an override phrase like “buttermilk pancakes” without adding other tests, such as voiceprint identification.
So it’s possible Dr. Lee is the only person that can use that backdoor.
Wait, there’s a brain in there? (Squishy… and how do they get it to take USB?)

Where do you see a brain?

Now I’m worried. What else/who else does Unity have in her doll collection?
Wait.
What if… Nick uses Violet to regain a physical body? And then uses it to hit on Virginia? Or would that be too weird, even for Nick?
That doesn’t sound at all weird for Nick. Now, if he uses it to hit on Tip, on the other hand…
Regardless of whom gets hit upon – that is actually the proper use of an avatar. This way Nick could meet the rest of the group.

Yes, let’s give the high-powered stealth assault robot to the questionably-stable undead killing machine.
THIS won’t end badly at all…
