And Even More Choose Thumbnails
Shaenon: My thumbnail for this past Thursday’s strip. I like this one a lot. Just so you know.
Channing: We don’t tend to break the single-line four(ish)-panel format a lot, as you’ve doubtless noticed, but in this case I think it really was both needed and effective. I’m really remarkably happy with how this storyline finally came out, for the record, and I do hope you all agree. Goodness knows that introducing two unknown characters and spending several months with them to the exclusion of anyone else sounds like a horrible idea, in retrospect, and I’m glad we didn’t devote any time to sense and reason before diving into “Choose”, because it really was a lot of fun to write.
Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but I like the change from the wedding dress being last to the coffee being last in the final strip. It makes it feel less like getting married is the “end goal” of the relationship, and more like simply being happy together is.
Interesting, I read it as alternative scenarios … but I forgot some of the story’s details since reading the first 80%.
Hm… that’s a possibility too, but it looked to me like Nera was a little older from each panel to the next.
Aha! I just noticed the Regular Show doodles visible from the other side of the second page, including an improbably adorable Benson.
Yeah, I was applying for a storyboard gig. Didn’t get it, but they were very nice.
He’d best make himself immortal, and fast!
Well, fast isn’t imperative from his relative perspective. He has an eternity to do it in.
Artists often regret that they couldn’t capture this or that from the sketch in the final version, but Morning After Nera has an emotional weight in the final that is only hinted at in the sketch.
