The best noshing partner: the one who is incapable of being offended by anything you do or say. (Of course, this is predicated on your having a strong stomach yourself).
I think U.N.I.T.Y. took one look at Tip’s psyche, realized it was completely incomprehensible to her, and defaulted to a physical critique to cover the lapse. 😉
Please … moisturize!
Tip always tries to deeply moisturize!
He … sobs and sighs!
Unity pries behind his guise, he cries!
Brains … make her wise,
She’ll analyze the other girls and guys!
Please … stay, K.T.!
Re-chewing your spew anew, I knew you’d be!
Come to think of it, this really speaks well of Tip’s level of self-knowledge. No hidden torments. No real lies to himself. He is who and what he is, he knows who and what he is, and he appears to be largely at peace with it.
In the end, as long as Tip is satisfied with his life, he’s got it pretty good. He’s got a doctorate, a government job that probably pays pretty well, the status that comes with being a veteran, he is both comfortable with and accepted in the way he presents himself to the world, and he has almost supernatural powers of seduction. If that’s what he wants out of life, then his deepest problems probably do involve moisturizer.
I see it as the opposite, actually. There have been many opportunities that showed how Tip isn’t really satisfied with his life (this, for example). Unity just wanted to show him how she could affect him even with the least important stuff, without even getting to the important issues.
I agree, especially given last chapter and the discussion that occurred between the Whimsy entity and Nick about how Tip could hope to someday be as real as Nick already is. Tip might find his truth one day, but it’s going to hurt.
I don’t think Unity really wants to be cruel. She’s not trying to hurt her friends, so when Tip asks for her worst she gives him something that will fulfil his request but which is also completely and utterly shallow and meaningless.
She’s actually trying to help the others. Nick really isn’t ready to hear that Virginia is in love with him, Sweetheart really does need to stop repressing her true self, Artie really should know better than to follow Helen’s example.
There are a million things she could say to Tip to hurt him but he’s the only one who came to her asking to be hurt.
They need to bring Gavotte in to give Unity a talking to. Something like:
“Now young lady, what have I told you about using your enhanced intelligence to callously rip your coworkers deepest secrets from the depths of their souls, and expose them to the harsh, judging light?”
Wait-a-minuite… I think I get it.
Normal UNITY likes to go around destroying stuff for fun. Smart!UNITY is actually the same. It’s just that now she can figure out how to destroy much more complex things.
Now Sweetheart and the others just need a more complex way to say, “No! Bad UNITY! No snacks!”
This… is just like most of my time at college.

I can get Tip 35% Cocoa Butter WITH Hydrocortizone.
That’s my problem…I’ve been using peanut butter instead. Would explain why the dog’s been nibbling my hair.
Due to a misunderstanding, I’ve been using Shia butter. Mr LaBeouf was not amused.
Does Mr LaBeouf use Sunni butter, & so would regard you as a heretic?
He couldn’t handle it…
He wants the truth. He can’t handle the truth.
The Janitor won’t have to Janit tonight!
Tip is surprisingly simple to understand.

Is that the *cruellest* thing Unity could come up with, or… just carefully selected as the only thing that could get through to Tip?
I think U.N.I.T.Y. took one look at Tip’s psyche, realized it was completely incomprehensible to her, and defaulted to a physical critique to cover the lapse. 😉
Or Tip really isn’t as deep as he wants to be. Embrace your shallowness!
That fear of aging…

As a psychologist, yes. As a transvestite? No.
Tip Wilkins.
What you see is what you get.

I approve this post 🙂 <(")

I want to see if she can burn Sweetheart but I got a feeling the boost will wear off soon. Too bad, I like super-intelligent Unity, she can be fun.
She did Sweetheart first.

Except more British.
I think Gavotte is aware enough not to go anywhere near smart Unity. We’re pretty sure she has a lot of secrets she doesn’t want revealed.
I always figured that Gavotte is what Mary Poppins grew up to be…
Nice to see the resident pantologist is on top of things, cleaning up her own mess, so to speak on both cases.
It’s probably telling that U.N.I.T.Y. hasn’t found anything about her to bring to light yet.
