Doc Jones … hangin’ in the ‘hood,
Though Wilkin says that Skin Horse has power for good …
Since meeting Tip, it seems her mojo has shrunk!
Oh, Tigerlily needs fu-unk,
Oh, Tigerlily needs funk!
Tip can’t … give her velvet and flares,
And Jones says, “I appreciate what you’re saying there.”
These sorry robots are so square that they’re junk!
Oh, Tigerlily needs fu-unk,
Oh, Tigerlily needs …
She needs it or she’s su-u-u-u-u-unk …
Just fu-u-u-u-u-u-unk!
’Bots, at being hip they stunk!
Oh, Tigerlily needs fu-unk,
Oh, Tigerlily needs funk!
To my shame, I had to remind myself that Tip is NEVER sarcastic about velvet and flares. In my defense, this year’s Cold From My Kids’ School is HORRIBLE.
Yeah, I never got that, either. My current theory is that, somewhere deep in her psyche, there’s a part of her that’s kinda hung up on him, but she hasn’t admitted that to herself yet, so her internal dissonance is blocking the free flow of funk. Sort of like how in a certain other webcomic*, recognizing and accepting that you’re mad is what lets the madness out to party.
Of course, it could be something else. Like, maybe loss of mojo is just a natural consequence of goinking someone who’s insufficiently funky. But I’m enough of a romantic to prefer my other theory.
*Apparently the comic is temporarily offline, but anyone here who for some reason hasn’t read Narbonic should find a way to do it as soon as humanly (or inhumanly) possible.
Yeah, I never got that, either, though presumably Jeff and Shaenon will explain it sooner or later (please?).
Meanwhile, my current theory is that, somewhere deep inside, there’s a part of Tigerlily that’s hung up on Tip, but she hasn’t accepted that fact yet, and the resulting dissonance in her psyche is blocking the free flow of funk. Sort of like how, in a certain other webcomic*, it’s only when a person recognizes and accepts that he or she is mad that the madness really gets to party.

Wow, was that a moment of vulnerability for Tigerlily in the last frame, evoked by the tiniest tweaks of her eye and lips?

She rilly … rilly needs …)
She’s un-funky, she’s un-funky!
She’s un-funky, she’s un-funky!
She’s un-funky, she’s un-funky … [repeat, fade out]
Bravo!
Only Tip could deliver that last line with sincerity. And only Dr. Jones could appreciate that.

Tip the only person who can make a killer zombie robot feel guilty with hand puppets. Does his powers of persuasion know no bounds?
Aren’t we glad Tip is only trying to use his powers for good: Maybe Tigerlily can reform him.
Ms. Jones could always take a job with Skin Horse. Civil servants all have bitter enemies—other civil servants.
I don’t think Ms. Jones could stomach being a servant of any kind, no matter the perks.
Because WHO wanted her to be a servant?
The MAN!
bloody civil servants! they ruined civil service!
Skirt Cracker. * snicker * : D
this was always the most inexplicable skin horse plot point to me. how the heck could tip alienate tigerlily from her own mojo???

Sorry for the double post. Thought I’d canceled the first one in time.
