Well, that’s fair. What I really meant to say was that I thought Tigerlily would be good at being a pirate captain. Apparently I was too tired when I commented last night to recognize that my phrasing could have been clearer.
Is THIS the official Oz line up then? The lion for the lion, Unity for the Scarecrow, Tigerlily for the Tin Man, Sweetheart for Dorothy, and Pavane for the Great Wizard of Oz?
I don’t think there is a THE official Oz line up. The Mr Green reveal hinged on an almost completely different one; as mentioned above Unity is mostly the Patchwork Girl (although she was the Scarecrow for the purposes of Mr Green); and there is way too mich Nick-for-the-Tin-Man stuff for one confrontation to say “actually it’s Tigerlily”. This is the official Oz line up for the thing we’re doing just now.
For me, in this particular storyline Tigerlilly is Dorothy. She was black and white square and then revealed her true colors. She’s disrupting the power structure and her dog Toto (Sweetheart) is the one that actually pulls the curtain away.
This is so interesting! We’ve long known there’s no 1:1 correspondence between Skin Horse cast and Oz characters. But…
That reference to “pulling the curtain away”… Could Pavane be the humbug Wizard?Tigerlily=Dorothy? Leo=the Cowardly Lion? Unity=the Scarecrow? Sweetheart=Toto?
I’m thinking Virginia Lee is closer to Dorothy. Lost in the bad side and finding her way home. Unity, I suspect, is the Patchwork Girl. Moustachio is Tick Tock the Clockwork Man. And Tip, of course, is Ozma. I was thinking HT was probably an analog for the Hungry Tiger. Then there’s the fact that there was a swarm of bees in the original Oz book.
But — and I haven’t seen anyone else mention this before, so I apologize if someone has — I swear I was also seeing hints of Rocky Horror Picture Show in this. Including the Transexual Transvestite who could not board the ship. (Okay, that may be a stretch). Any thoughts?
In the case of the actual pirates of the Caribbean, they had to be – they were a democratic organization. The men had individual contracts, and they elected their captains! Most of the time they weren’t technically pirates but privateers – military contractors, hired to loot the Spanish treasure ships by the other European powers – but when they had no assignments they would revert to random piracy to keep the plunder coming in.
They’ve turned all the children against her. These battling rebels incensed her. But treating them this way has caused a remiss day. Though she was more intelligent, sir.
BTW how many noticed that in the filename story Gavotte asks Tip
“and how hard will you hang on?”
not long after he loses his grip on the flying saucer in the comic strip story.
Kudos to Pancha for Tigerlily’s glitter dress.
Really nice effect!
It is really beautiful!
Yes, it puts your average superhero costume to shame!
I’m sure Tigerlily will make a very good pirate captain.
Really? I would peg her as a fairly wicked one.

I’ll like the flag—a skull and crossbones with the skull wearing a space helmet.
Instead of black, the background will be the same sparkly combo that Tigerlily is wearing now.
Pay no attention to the bees behind the curtain!

Unity is the Patchwork Girl, who was Madame-Not-Appearing-in-This-Film.

“The Wizard of Oz” with a Black Dorothy?! Inconceivable! I can’t let this wiz past!
Well, they tell me the Broadway musical was pretty good. The movie was not—mostly bad casting and bad acting.

Perhaps Ira is more the Gnome King?
A “humbug” made of humming bugs?
Or you can have more than one wizard.

Last time I hecked ,Pirate crews did try and be as accommodating as they could be for their crew.

Inhalers full of springs instead of that square medicine stuff.
Spring Surprise in inhaler form.
Nestled in purest Swiss microcrystals, steel springs leap out and pierce the lung tissue!
Ew. Stick with Crunchy Frog.
Perhaps Leo is allergic to cat dander…
Perhaps… Or he’s allergic to dogs.
But asthma doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re allergic to anything.
Today in googles I never thought I’d make, “Can lions get asthma?”
I would assume so. I had a cat with asthma and lions are just family sized cats.
All this and free healthcare too? A pirate’s life’s for me!
“I don’t like it”
“You don’t like it?”
“I don’t like it and I don’t wanna do it!”
Well, if you don’t like it, what do you want?
They’ve turned all the children against her. These battling rebels incensed her. But treating them this way has caused a remiss day. Though she was more intelligent, sir.
She would have won, if it weren’t for those pesky kids.

Oh this is tremendously delightful.
Dang, space pirate would suit her to a T…
