Technically, Tip only showed up in person at the end, and was at his least recognisable. On the other hand, he’s the one who actually paid the bill, so the server might remember, especially if he failed to live up to his name.
Can I just say how much I love the Shaenon Garrity Small Satisfied Smileâ„¢ in the last panel? It’s one of those small, amazingly expressive details that I associate with her art as much as a wobbly giant line smile screams Charles Schultz.
Chris Sanders, or so it would seem has worked out the best with his scheme. He’s been newly posted, but the sandwich’s not toasted. He lives the American Dream.
That’s what honesty on your resume will get you! 😉
We get the *best* call-back gags here!
Always fun to be reminded of old bits.
Hell, I’ve been reading through for the first time so only saw that strip like last week, and even I had forgotten about it!
I like the idea that as Tip really *doesn’t* know anything about nuclear physics and Thermodynamics it results in…. the bread not being warmed at all.
(Also like how Tip is *soooo* satisfied while Chris found it debasing.)
Well, businesses do like to put the pretty people up front.
Isn’t this the *employee* cafeteria? Maybe the powers that be want Tip to prove he can handle these cream puffs.
“Would you like me to irradiate it for you?”
No chance of anyone recognizing Tip in that uniform.
Well, it may take even Tip a while to work his way up through the ranks.
There are those in the cafeteria who might remember him: http://skin-horse.com/comic/what-do-2/ although there might’ve been some turnover since.

I hope Shelby started that food truck business he was considering!
My mistake! Mr. September may be AG-I leader!
Anyone recall the current status of Anasigma’s superhero team?

+1

Bravo!
This is basically what happens in Surviving Mars…
The very bottom rung has been achieved. Now to find a way to climb.
Perhaps we’ll see a Black Ops Bureaucracy version of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”
What a GREAT montage that would make! Perhaps a “Special Sunday” strip?
