I can actually see the comic today, but yesterday it was like that.
And the Cast page was huuuge. Like I could read 3/4 of the description. Which wouldn’t be enough if I hadn’t read them a few thousand times before.
Just stating that the entirety of the site was acting up.
Nope, I’m in the same boat. Until they fix the problem, you can read the comic at http://www.gocomics.com/skinhorse, but I think it may not update until midnight PST.
Panel 1: Whimsy!Drone: Sir foreman! You are in thrall to the greedy executives infesting me!
Panel 2: Whimsy!Drone: There is yet time to pledge yourself to virtue! Call off your machines of destruction!
Panel 3: Foreman: Who do you think you are, lady? Whimsy!Drone: Someone who can dish out huge salary bonuses!
Panel 4: Foreman: I’ve got my bank on speed dial. Keep talking. Whimsy!Drone: Witness! A victory for virtue!

Dave Warren over at Selkie ( http://www.selkiecomic.com/ ) has a similar looking problem. He posted; “I clicked what I THOUGHT was an innocent Comicpress update, but apparently it was a full conversion to Comic Easel and now a lot of the site is completely BORKED.”
Oh poor Skin Horse, you made the same mistake I did, I can tell. I’d be glad to offer whatever help or advice I can should it be needed. Dave AT selkiecomic DOT com.
This happened to me too, but luckily not on my main comic site. Unfortunately I’m missing a lot of features now, like the page archive dropdown I was using and transcriptions. I’m planning on asking Frumph if/when we can expect to get those back.
Upgrades are inherently eeeeeevil. My mythbuntu box distro-upgraded twice after LTE end-of-life, both times promptly failed to boot (for different reasons). My last software update (!) got killed and retried numerous times to increasing degrees of system failure until I remembered that it didn’t actually hang – for some inscrutable reason it just tries to access my non-existent floppy drive for FOURTY MINUTES in a row before it gives up every time “menu.lst” gets messed with.
OK, I’ll turn off the invisibility …

It went up … last night,
But something’s just not right!
The strip is on … the site,
But we can’t see it!
Now we feel … distress,
We cry and cuss!
Because Co-mic Press
Just barfed on us!

Can’t you see this hateful bigotry for what it is?
Birds fly, fish swim, and Incorporations are generally created for the purpose of conducting business.
In earlier times, the level of societal trust was much lower, and some of the only large organizations capable of conducting business were families.
This meant one didn’t work with people one wasn’t related to by blood, marriage, or both.
A corporation is a later step in a large series of stages that brought us to a world where one can sometimes trust, in matters of money, those one isn’t blood related to.
I would further submit that corporations in general behave very similarly to a realistic estimate of how groups of humans with free will would behave.

Obligatory error-day post, for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet: ComicPress update clashed with some of our coding. It’s not on your end, it’s ours. Keep pace in the meantime at gocomics.com/skinhorse . Peace out!
Huh. In the absence of the comic, I just noticed that the Social stuff is titled “Share and Enjoy”. Now I got the theme song for the Complaints division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation stuck in my head…
All you want is a good cup of tea and you get something that resembles liquid fertilizer, and then when you call to complain the wait time is measured in months . . . No wonder they’re the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
ComicPress experts (and fellow cartoonists) can e-mail Shaenon at me(at)shaenon.com with basic troubleshooting tips. There was some weird widget issue once before, and that wiped out most of Shaenon and Jeff’s comments on the Sunday features, among other side effects.
So if you get on the side of virtue due to your lack of virtue, is that like, negative virtue or do they cancel each other out and you’re at neutral virtue? Man, the ethics (or lack thereof) of bribery are confusing.
Am I the only one who can see comments but not the comic itself?
No, it’s happening to me too…
It’s been so the last two days, and there’s widget comments in the sidebar.
same here
i can see the comic. I don’t give a split about the widgets.
I can see the comic too. And if I had a cat’s bass I wouldn’t give it for the Ifni-slucking widgets.

Same thing happening here.

Thanks for all the alternate ways of viewing it.
Wait, GoComics? Is… Skin Horse in newspapers?
Same for me as well. Glad I’m not alone.
You will always be alone, Doctor. Always.
🙁 no comic 🙁
Gocomics version is now up.
You can always depend on some people to do the right thing. You can depend on a lot more people to do the right thing if you pay them a lot to do so.

Rats. That didn’t work. No embeded images in comments? Fine. There’s a transcript up, at least.
Phoo-y.

Hello there, Selkie fan. 🙂
Oh poor Skin Horse, you made the same mistake I did, I can tell. I’d be glad to offer whatever help or advice I can should it be needed. Dave AT selkiecomic DOT com.
Yes, I did make the same pitiable mistake! Arrgh…
Spent most of yesterday fixing mine. Looks like we’ve got a bit of a club going.
Quickly, to the Commiseration Vodka!

OH. You’re THAT Dave. No wonder you have a Selkie-eye avatar!
Number 1 cause of computer system failure: software “upgrade”.
Upgrades are inherently eeeeeevil. My mythbuntu box distro-upgraded twice after LTE end-of-life, both times promptly failed to boot (for different reasons). So she thinks of greedy executives like we think of parasites? Makes sense.
I realy like the phrase the greedy executives infesting me
I wanna see an EdG filk about an invisible comic!
It’s already been posted, but it’s invisible. Sorry!
OK, I’ll turn off the invisibility …

The comic is there, but there was an undefined function call in displaying it.
Aw, whimsy took off the dress 🙁 whimsy, aren’t you supposed to be a princess? c’mon!
…nick wore the dress… 🙁
The dress is now 6 kinds of radioactive. It’d kill the foreman before she had a chance to get him to call the work off.
Well, unless the dress was made of metal and she had him swollow it, I’m pretty sure the forman is safe. Nick’s body on the other hand…
(TUNE: “God Save The Queen”)
Execs infectious, fall!
Whimsy, protect us all!
Princess, save us!
Avarice glorious
Now will work fo-or us …
Virtue victorious!
Princess, save us!
So greed=virtue.
Yup, she’s a corporation all right.

You got the comic back up! Our hero!
But oh goodness, the comments! Do you have backups, or should go crazy at every possible internet caching website?
So if you get on the side of virtue due to your lack of virtue, is that like, negative virtue or do they cancel each other out and you’re at neutral virtue? Man, the ethics (or lack thereof) of bribery are confusing.
The site seems to maybe, gradually be figuring itself out. Sit tight, and we’ll see if it all comes back.
Status Update: 3 September 2013, 1756 PDT:
I was able to read the comic without problems other than a slight giggle-fit. In other words, normal for Skin-Horse.
…Where’d she get the new clothing?
Hello,… Princess?
(Either that, or Tip brought spares.)
Tip brought spares.
Is that… is that Dave in the background of panel 1?
