Unless my people trust
The Government!
To show that you have the matter in hand,
Below, by my command,
You’re being sent!
In the sew-ers you will face our foe …
And you will make them pack their bags and go!
Don’cha know …
If Queen Elena has sent them to kill,
Then thwart her plan, you will!
Go sock it to ‘er!
And then my people will surely admit
You really know your s**t!
Down in the sewer!
Down in the sewer!
Down in the sewer!
One’s death will often improve one’s opinion of a government. Or, from another direction, when one dies, one’s opinion of a government is not likely to decline.
This is something that’s been bothering me for a few days now. Are Bummer and Lazarus part of the real Emperor Norton’s history or did Jeff and Shaenon get them from Christopher Moore’s modern-day version of him?
I shouldn’t say bothering, because I’m not accusing them of plagiarism or something like that. I’m just wondering if the dogs actually existed or if Moore has added to the mythology of the man.
Hrm, I think this is not proper quest giving etiquette. Usually when royalty sends a group to clear a sewer, cave, fortress, etc. of monsters, they are supposed to provide them with potions, arms (preferably enchanted) and no end of inane, oddly specific advice.
Then again, add some imperial backing to Sweetheart’s bureaucratic authority and all will tremble before her.
Pen and paper etiquette, sure. Videogame etiquette on the other hand doesn’t involve giving any kind of advance, sketchy directions, and once the quest is completed a random article of clothing as a reward.
There are worse life strategies out there than the one where you carefully heed the counsel of His Imperial Majesty, Sweetheart.
Perhaps, but I don’t think that was the point she was trying to make….
“I’m not off the throne yet, pup.
And when I DO leave, my replacement will be unable to enter the water closet for at least twenty-five minutes.”
….hey, where’d that big Vaudeville hook come from? *YANK*
And when I DO leave, my replacement may be surprised to find specific keys missing from every keyboard in the office.

Instantaneous. And freaky. I just read the whole thing, then I had to come back to see that yes, you had reversed the 2 and the 8.
I had no trouble reading it, but then I have prior experience with that sort of thing because of Homestuck.

Wait, Emperor Norton is pushing for trust in the U.S. Government? Death has changed the fellow. Death, and maybe responsibility….
One’s death will often improve one’s opinion of a government. Or, from another direction, when one dies, one’s opinion of a government is not likely to decline.
Only as a tool to get P39 passed, though. He doesn’t necessarily trust it in its own right.
Emperor Norton is pushing for trust in the U.S. Government. Isn’t this exactly the wrong time to introduce Dr. Lee’s machine?
I could watch Sweetheart interact with authority figures //all day//.

It is on such paradoxes that civilizations are founded.
