The mechanical giant with a hammer once stepped on the Sawhorse’s head…. Jes’ Saying. (Yeah, it’s a stretch….And it wasn’t exactly *stepping* on the head….)
Welcome back to Annex One
I’d like to give you three good cheers.
So you’re crushin’ Jonah Yu’s old car,
So what, it’s nice to see you here.
I’d want to know about all the things
The last five years you’ve seen.
So climb aboard your concrete slab,
And, step onto autos, we mean, yeah.
Step onto autos, crush them together,
We could watch this carnage forever and ever.
Smash, crash, and be merry, come along and see.
Step onto autos…is admission free?
Take care in where you step from here,
And keep smilin’ on your face.
If you need some techs to maintain you
Oh, you have found the place.
So welcome back here, Annex One
Here’s a place that you can be.
Then thinkin’ if you don’t mind—
Step onto autos, we see.
Step onto autos, crush them together,
We could watch this carnage forever and ever.
Smash, crash, and be merry, come along and see,
Step onto autos…is admission free?
(Step…step onto autos…)
(Ah…forever and ever…)
(Yeah…come on board and see…)
(Ah…oh!)…

They’re in their mid-twenties now. It’s only natural that at least one of them acquired a car of their own, rather than continuing to drive her mom’s cars. (And without going back and looking it up, I think the first car we saw them driving belonged to Nera’s cousin.)
It’s not as though Jonah was going to leave anything important in there. And he’s obviously highly-insured.
Well, he already had a vague idea it was going to happen.
Might have left it there deliberately, knowing that would happen – and had it heavily insured.
I like to believe he’d just sold it to Dave Davenport. Because running gag.
Dave only started the running gag. Chris’ car got crushed. Manifesta crushed her own car. And now Jonah’s car gets it.
Better yet, it should belong to Dave Barker.
“Why did you let them destroy your car?!”
“Branding, Nera
Well-played!
Don’t worry, they’ll build him a new one.
Tigerlily: I can rebuild it. Better, stronger, faster…and funkier.
And spring driven. Wind it once, it’s good all day.
heck, at this point, I’d be happy with a wind-up car even if I had to wind it before every trip!
Well, but how long does it take to wind it? And how much force is required?
I’m picturing a metallic blue El Dorado that automatically plays the theme from Shaft once it goes above seventy MPH.
Worthy.
A symbol of UNITY?!
Thanks for pointing it out.
Shaenon sneaked that one by me.
I like to put it as “Unity or Unity?”
Any kids? Show us the kids! (panel four)
Tiny little helicopters wearing skullcaps flitting around the room behind them. Maybe one little (seemingly) normal girl chasing her brothers.

Where’s Foot?
Shame. A step further and it could’a stepped on Jonah.
Congratulations on meeting the Vol. 11 & 12 pledge goal.
Thanks!

It was a Bug with a feature!
Wasn’t it a VW van?
Or was that Tigerlily’s?
Yes. And yes. Dave’s and Tigerlily’s were both VW vans.
Dave’s 1967 VW “Kombi” Microbus had… issues. The line above was how he described it.
I still think it was a Mercedes. Then again, it was named “Mercury J. Buchanan” so maybe it was a Mercury.
A Mercedes would be totally un-funky. (Unless we’re talking about the Blue Wonder. That was a pretty funky ride.)
Besides, compare pictures of old Mercedes vans and old VWs to Tigerlily’s van, and you can see that it was definitely a VW.
Jonah Yu and Nera have been seen driving around in cars, but it would seem they belonged to Nera’s mother.
They’re in their mid-twenties now. It’s only natural that at least one of them acquired a car of their own, rather than continuing to drive her mom’s cars. (And without going back and looking it up, I think the first car we saw them driving belonged to Nera’s cousin.)
Fooled me by mentioning Nera’s Mom’s Dio CD in the strip right after the one with the keys to Nera’s cousin’s Toyota.
Nera’s Mom is someone I’d like to see…
Nera’s mom has got it goin’ on.
The Annex One mecha is mobile. Its outreach work made it quite noble. But a step on car was in repetoire, just another man-mecha foible.
The symbol of unity, did what U.N.I.T.Y. would have done.
Well, a giant Unity probably would have accidentally stepped on the car, then scraped it off her shoe and eaten it.
