I think it has to do with how according to the laws of nature as a bee understands them a rocket shouldn’t be able to fly. Yet, the rocket flies anyway.
I can’t help but wonder if there’s supposed to be something significant about the flowers — the third panel focuses on them to the exclusion of one of the persons speaking the words in the speech bubble.
I *think* her cheeks are intended to be high-boned and slightly sunken (possibly as an indicator that’s she’s of more “mature” years). But I could be wrong.
I’m calling it now, all sorts of interesting things will occur when all five of them are in the same room. Hopefully more manga than Cronen, but still interesting.
I’m with Dr Lee that the beachfront women are components of a bee-based gestalt entity; I’m still not sure if the entity in question is Gavotte or Pavane, though—no reason to suppose that Ginny even knows of Pavane’s existence.
Mayor Queen has a pointy nose – proboscis? And she has flowering plants in her room.
Her glasses are only half-glasses. All the others were full-coverage.
Tsk! Even allowing for the history of rocketry it does look as though somebody doesn’t distinguish between transport and weapons. 😛

In all fairness, when someone fires it at your house it’s not much a leap to “weapon.”
There isn’t. One evolved or was adapted from the other, which in turn was adapted or evolved again.
Given that the Saturn V is just a scaled up V-2, I’d say the history of rocketry doesn’t distinguish between them very much either.
Criminy – she has eyes!
I’m guessing Mayor Queen is the central node of consciousness, so she has eyes since she’s the one “driving” the psyche normally.
She sees enough to know, there nothing she needs to know.
The better to see you with, my dear.
[scratches off weirder theories about Mayor Queen]
I note that at least the flowers on her shawl are red, possibly supporting my Oz-Quadling hypothesis.
Hey! We can see her eyes! What can possibly be up with that?!
Not necessarily – mayors have underlings, which in other countries might be known as viziers….
I can’t help but wonder if there’s supposed to be something significant about the flowers — the third panel focuses on them to the exclusion of one of the persons speaking the words in the speech bubble.
Also, what’s up with Mayor Queen’s cheeks?
They look like hyacinths to me, if that’s any help.
No, actually they just look a bit bruised
And here I thought they were poppies.
Bee sting?
I’ll be honest, those don’t look like cheekbones at all, it looks like she’s been punched in the face very hard twice.

That plus bony fingers, granny glasses, and hey… shawl.
I mostly like that Dr. Lee here acknowledges that she is irresponsible.
Well, at most, she acknowledges that’s how others see her~
“Call me irresponsible, call me unreliable, throw in undependable too…”
Call me anything, just don’t call me late for dinner.
Funny, she doesn’t look like the Green Arrow…
Heh heh, made a similar comment last page 😀
Okay, was sure had mentioned it somewhere, butt can’t find where 🙁
Back on October 24th
I’m taking a big leap to say that Mayor Queen is *not* an elected official.
I’m calling it now, all sorts of interesting things will occur when all five of them are in the same room. Hopefully more manga than Cronen, but still interesting.
Sorry, I meant Cronenberg.
If this is indeed Gavotte, this is how I imagine her to be.
I mean we already knew that she had a upper class British style of speaking. It would not surprise me if we’re seeing Gavette, or her daughter.
Shannon and Jeff, if this is a red herring…
Not that I believe it for an instant, but it almost looks like she could be an older version of Dr. Lee.
That thought occurred to me as well.
I’m with Dr Lee that the beachfront women are components of a bee-based gestalt entity; I’m still not sure if the entity in question is Gavotte or Pavane, though—no reason to suppose that Ginny even knows of Pavane’s existence.

Isn’t that Mary Poppins, more or less?
Yup.
Is Mrs. Apis supposed to be Dame Judi Dench, more or less?
(I see that one of her rôles was in a film called Ladies in Lavender. . .)
