I’ve only ever encountered that “phenomenon” a couple times, and it was because I already had the webpage with the previous comic open before the new comic was posted. The page doesn’t auto-update, so the links to the latest comic don’t appear unless you refresh the page.
Christian Rose: I’ve seen it happen (I load yesterday’s page from scratch, but the “Next” and “Last” links under the comic strip aren’t actually links) a few times. I can get to the latest strip easily enough, but it is a phenomenon which can be reproduced.
The pages do seem to be refreshed every so often as long as people visit them (possibly for the adverts), so I don’t know if the page fixed itself after a while.
Ya know, when you think about it, Remy is basically just the equivalent of a church pastor or youth minister or similar.
Even in the Narboniverse, you wouldn’t ask your local priest to help solve your problems by invoking Yahweh’s wrath to summon some bears to maul your enemies Elisha-style, or whatever. Real clergy aren’t like vampire slayers or demon exorcists in movies and television. They’re just people who perform mundane rituals for a community of believers – not magicians invoking divine supernatural powers.
Which is why, more than I ever, I hope Remy doesn’t eventually end up actually having “voodoo powers”, and that his “channeling” of Alphonse’s spirit back in Louisiana really was “just an act” – a metaphorical act, rich with spiritual symbolism and meaning, but a mundane and non-magical act nonetheless.
To be fair, his sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped him conjure up the stolen zombie limbs or given him clairvoyance enough to find the attackers’ hidden fortr-

…whoo! Sorry about that! Allergies. What was I saying?
OTOH, Shaenon did say that she sort of regretted that aspect of Narbonic (it didn’t fit too well with the mad science theme) so she may be deliberately avoiding it in Skin Horse.
Who does know who between “Narbonic” and “Skin-Horse?” Artie and Lovelace have been on stage. Sergio knows Mell. Professor Madblood’s ancestor, and maybe a relative of Dave’s, have been referred to. It’s been said that Unity’s brain was cloned from Mell’s DNA, but I don’t know if it’s been explicitly said.
Who else would they know? Could Nick have some contact with Dave’s gaming group? Has Ms. Jones or Dr. Lee had any professional contact with Helen or Dave? Has anybody in Hell complained about the large number of undead whose souls aren’t going there now?

Yes, that is literally what a houngan is. But in a world where it’s confirmed that the spirit world exists, there’s nothing wrong with Loa being able to ride a houngan. It still doesn’t mean he can do it at will, and it doesn’t give him the ability to curse people.
Heh-heh-heh….”Heady” Lamarr…
That’s Hedley!
[sees avatar] Nice to see you’re staying safe.
Well, you can never be too careful
I’m trying to do the same.
Dammit, I was going to say that!
Heh
Nah. He’s kind of blond and quite a bit taller.
‘Where I come from, we call it voodoo,’ said Mrs Gogol.
Nanny’s wrinkled forehead wrinkled still further. ‘Ain’t that all messin’ with dolls and dead people and stuff?’ she said.
‘Ain’t witchcraft all runnin’ around with no clothes on and stickin’ pins in people?’ said Mrs Gogol levelly.
‘Ah,’ said Nanny. ‘I sees what you mean.’
She shifted uneasily. She was a fundamentally honest woman. ‘I got to admit, though . . .’ she added, ‘sometimes . . . maybe just one pin . . .’
Mrs Gogol nodded gravely. ‘Okay. Sometimes . . . maybe just one zombie,’ she said.
‘But only when there ain’t no alternative.’
‘Sure. When there ain’t no alternative.’
– Pratchett, Sir Terry. “Witches Abroad”
Fun fact: so-called voodoo dolls are from Western witchcraft traditions. The dolls are called poppets.
FYI: As a small alert, the previous strip is missing the right half of the control links. Feel free to delete this message when it’s fixed. :{)

I encounter it on a daily basis. A simple refresh is all you need.

I’m sorry to have to tell you this, Unity, but Remy is never going to ask you to help kill anything but time.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

(Clap, clap). Very well done sir.
I mean, Narbonic had a literal demon from Hell in its supporting cast, so anything’s on the table

Fair point. Seems only time will tell.
Unless we get a script draft preview over the weekend.
