Nera’s got a point. Jonah’s relying on his precog a little too much. The problem with having a superpower is that, until you can learn to master it at least, it tends to dull all your other senses. In Jonah’s case, his precognition dulls his normal cognitive ability.
I’m thinking they were only super aggressive before because of the “rage” spore machine. The snakes biting them while hopped up on allergy meds allowed them to calm down while the machine was still running, and I would assume the machine eventually ran out of spores or was dismantled by someone.
Well, I don’t recall anything actually mentioned anywhere in the comic (it never came up during that storyline), but I assume that with the Devils pacified by the Cobras’ prophylactic venom, Virginia had plenty of time to shut the machine down properly — probably after she dispatched Red Knight and finished repairing the injured robots.
We already know that Alt-Bitey restored Cypress’ health back at A-Sig. But that’s all he was — a cure. He’s just a chemically enhanced coon-skin hat. He can’t do anything on his own to replenish her depleted mass. And even if Bitey and Alt-Bitey could reproduce — which is questionable at best — they haven’t had any time to do so. Besides, for all we know, Alt-Bitey stayed with Tip, and Bitey left with Unity.
And we also know that it was the lightning and the raging fires above ground that have caused her current deterioration. She needs organic material and moisture in a bad way.
There is, of course, the fact that Unity has been left alone with the Cypress. In the alt-universe, she allowed herself to be subsumed in Colma. Maybe she’ll do it in Carbondale in this universe. Y’know… just to save Granny Swamp from dying. Combine that with the Jersey Devils, and you have an organic biomass army with very little impulse control.
Thousands of suggestable, irritable, razor-toothed plants gathered into a group mind with a tree calling the shots? Nah, it’ll be totally fine. I doubt anyone would notice it/them moving to a better spot for further growth.
Calling it now – Nick is actually going to be totally right about this, and A-Sig will secretly be run by his mom.
That’s… plausible, at this point.
I mean… maybe his precognition isn’t from the whole time loop thing. Maybe they’re genetic!
Maybe A-Sig’s actually run by Nera’s mom, and that’s why she’s always off on those “mysterious assignments”!
That also crossed my mind. Probably more likely really.
Well, Jonah Yu does eat paste…
And Mr. Green will turn out to be Ira!
Nah, “Ira” isn’t a color name.
It does mean “watchful” in Hebrew, though, which is fitting.
Maybe it’s short for Iradescent. He is the leader because he is all the colors.
It’s also Latin for “anger”… which is kind of interesting.
Believe you are thinking of ‘Ire’, unless ‘Ire’ came from ‘Ira’
Yes, “ire” comes from “ira”. The main forms in Latin are “ira” and “irae”.
Obviously they threw all those color names around in order to mislead would-be investigators, much like a certain kind of herring.

Even pre-precognitive Jonah would’ve walked into that one, I think.
Well, Jonah is precognitive, and he did walk into that one, so you’re right.
I meant “pre-precognitive”–before he became precognitive. (I’m still right, though.)
Ah… I totally read your first comment wrong. And yes, you’re still right.
Unless this has been asked already, how come the Jersey devils are docile and cooperative now?
They’re high on Tip’s attractant?

On their meds?
Truth.
I’m with Jonah on calling it that. “Wishing Swamp” just doesn’t have the same ring to it
Also, you’d think Jonah would be more upset at being called a perversion
But the last time we saw her, the Cypress was dying off…
That’s why Tip wants to give her the Devils… to rebuild her biomass.
And there’s no possible way that could go wrong… right?
Would’a thought Bitey and Alt-Bitey would’ve replenished that by now…
Wait, what if what’s killing Cypress is Alt-Bitey?

Heh. Sapient bayou-mass.
