That’s NOT his usual five-shot pistolover. He brought the Big Gun. Makes me go all ‘Vachel Lindsay’…Boom-a-lay, boom-a-lay….BOOM. So, waste some of these imposters..
It looks like a striker fired semiautomatic with a square slide and no exposed barrel. I’m guessing Glock. The shape of James’ gun’s barrel looks like an IWI. It’s too small to be a Desert Eagle, so it’s probably a Jericho.
The barrel looks right for Alice, especially in the third panel. The rest of it is a bit off, but Shaenon’s never claimed to be an expert at drawing guns.
You’re right, Tip. James looks like total douche with that pencil mustache. His fashion sense is clearly inferior to yours. You should be able to thoroughly smash him in a fashion-duel.
If all “Evil” characters were back, you might have a point. As it is, though, it’s one character who’s black vs how many who aren’t? We’ve seen several other “opposites”, Sweetheart became a cat, etc.
Additionally, we don’t know if these are even Evil at all.
This post comes off more as an ass-u-me situation than any actual racism going on around here.
Cats are always cats.
Good and Evil are not a consideration unless we’re talking about a cat that does un-cat-like things. Then we are talking about a Bad Cat.
Is purple-bangs lady in love with black anti-Nick? (Has anyone said his name yet?) But more importantly, why does Nick want them to shoot him? I don’t get it.
Yeah, A.D. As hip as NIck is to contemporary entertainment, that cry for merciful
death is the cry of a guy who can’t stand one more ornamentalist’s belly-ache about nothing but SURFACE. How shallow. He whimpers for the coup de grace, to deliver him from the Universe of Fools, now that he’s caught in the Mysteries of Love.(etc)
I’m suspecting that TIp’s counterpart is a female who is crossdressing masculine. Appropriately, that’s about the only group of people that a pencil moustache looks alright on.
I like your idea, “Some Bob”… but it looks like James, the Tip counterpart, may have slightly larger arm muscles than Tip. He may be lifting heavier things than sequin-laden gowns.
Pencil mustaches do go well with swashbuckler masks. (Think “Princess Bride’s Dread Pirate” … oops – “Yet Another Bob”.)

Well-spotted! Looks like some kind of 9 mil semi-auto. Wonder if this one also has a name?

In fact I’m fairly certain she claims the opposite quite often.
I guess it’s just like what she says about drawing cars.
Hummm….can’t draw guns, can’t draw cars…seems downright unamerican somehow.
“Shaenon’s never claimed to be an expert at drawing guns.”
But can she draw expert guns?? (That gun looks pretty expert)
She may not claim expertise, but that is DEFINITELY NOT a revolver. The slide is clearly rendered.
That’s the grips on the back of the slide, not a cylinder.
“Boom-lay-boom, boom-lay-boom, boom-baby.” The restless are native.

In fairness, those uniforms are no one’s best look. James may dress as snazzily as Tip off-duty.
He probably dresses like Zorro: tight-fitting black outfit, mask, whip and cape. And hot boots.
Them’s fightin’ words. No one dresses as snazzily as Tip does.
I mean, I agree that The Asian Streak is the ultimate evil, but man does that not look good when Nick’s ‘evil opposite’ is black.
My first reaction was that since Nick is Jewish his opposite has to be a minority as well to balance. But yeah, even then it doesn’t look great.
So now we’re pretending that minorities aren’t human beings and therefore could never be evil? o_O
Who said that?
…and exactly how evil are they really?
So far they haven’t actually done anything bad – Trinity attaking Unity is more of an inevitability, and the Skin Horse guys ARE the Intruders.
Opposite-Nick has only had one line… and that was being frustrated with James.

They’re evil because they work for Anasigma. QED.
And cats are always evil, too. No apologies. Meow.
Cats are always cats.
Good and Evil are not a consideration unless we’re talking about a cat that does un-cat-like things. Then we are talking about a Bad Cat.
12 billion Funny Cat Videos show that a cat doing un-cat-like things isn’t always Bad.
Does Tip-with-the-pencil-thin-moustache own a two-tone Ricky Ricardo jacket?
and an autographed picture….of Andy Devine?
Is purple-bangs lady in love with black anti-Nick? (Has anyone said his name yet?) But more importantly, why does Nick want them to shoot him? I don’t get it.
Nick would prefer getting shot over listening to Tip prattle on about facial hair.
Nick recognizes that his duplicate will be just like him — a pacifist. He’s calling their bluff.
This key character point was recently reminded for us: http://skin-horse.com/comic/collection-of-4/
If he’s Nick’s opposite, he may feel that violence is a cleansing force. He’s holding a pretty big gun.

I don’t know about the Mysteries of Love ™, but I agree that Nick has had it up to here with the nutcases he’s been travelling with.

You can just tell that not-Nick is analyzing what Nick is saying, and thinking to himself “what is this guy on?”
