At some point soon I’m going to be humming Pink Ployd’s Pigs at work and I’ll tail off after a few bars to give a evil curse in Shaenon & Jeff’s general direction.
OK, poll question: what side of the Born/Made divide do people think Dr Collodi’s daughter is going to fall? (Yes, yes, if there’s a Narbon in the family tree the answer will be “both”. Nonetheless.)
well, if Dr Collodi is based on Giuseppe (and not Carlo Collodi), then his daughter could be based on Pinocchio and thus the answer to “Born/Made?” might be “Made then Born” (created, then becomes human).
The article says that Carlo Collodi wrote the “happy” ending himself. I don’t speak Italian, so I don’t know how final the “sad” one was intended to be.
Protracted legal battle involving administrative agency = tons of unskippable government paperwork. Also known as busywork. Also known as billable hours.
So Collodi’s daughter gets her company back, the robots get to survive the demolition order, U.N.I.T.Y. gets to keep the cute ‘bots in the world, and Sweetheart gets a tremendous amount of paperwork and legal issues to go through for weeks.
In short, a classic win-win (-win-win) scenario for all.
Yes, she has revealed a little-mentioned prelude to the zombie apocalypse…flood the bureaucracy with paperwork, so that a quick response becomes impossible.
“Quick, issue me a flamethrower!
“Sure, just fill out these five forms and in 28-42 working days, we’ll have one for you.”
Behold Sweetheart’s true evil purpose…secondary to invading the United States for the glory of Canada.
Snorf.
Is Cunningham actually an English barrister? That so looks like a powdered wig…

Too bad Unity doesn’t want another hat.
Would that be a wig on a pig?

>> tangent : oh good grief. Even way back in 1889’s the stories were being rewritten to have a ‘happy ending’ 0_o

More likely “Born then Made”, since it’s *clearly* Nick.
And UNITY’s gonna get to use her notary stamp on every piece of paperwork!!!
Stampstampstampstamp!
As long as she’s not using THE stamp. It was mentioned that it embosses granite to some depth – that will play havoc on mere paper.
Executor was shattered during the battle with Tigerlily, and its pieces were buried by Lovebody.
Unity looks so cute!
She always does.
She looks especially cute in this arc!
I don’t know whom I envy more: Unity for hugging Sweetheart, or Sweetheart for getting hugged by Unity.
OT, recently I saw a “M*A*S*H” episode starring an apparent Korean named Virginia Lee. Coincidence?
(TUNE: “Whistle While You Work”, Frank Churchill and Leigh Harline)
“Make some paperwork!”
Says zombie with a smirk …
Let lawyers fight
Both day and night,
‘Cause WhimsyCorp’s a jerk!
Although the land’s been sold,
By Cunningham we’re told
Collodi’s daughter,
If we got her,
She could stop them cold!
We’ll fight the suits in court!
Their plans we will abort!
We’ll frustrate ev’ry legal clerk
With tons of litigative murk!
Let’s make some paperwork,
And drive our foes berserk!
They’ll rant and rave,
But we will save
The day, like Captain Kirk!
Snow White is rolling in her plexiglass grave.
That probably adds a lot of depth to her character (at least, the film version of it)……

Yep, Unity has never been more frightening.
Unity has to keep the ears from now on! They’re so cute and it’s the best way to keep practicing them on people! Please?
Even I, as a professional government paperpusher, find Unity’s glee in the last panel…disturbing.
