So Whimsy is developing a full-dive VR system for kids based on Nick’s cybernetic interface. I hope they managed to get the hardware working without needing direct access to the users’ brains, or it can get messy quickly.
BTW, can we expect a series of strips with this cartoony style? I bet Shaenon is having lots of fun with these ones.
Smile, darn ya, smile!
You know this new world is a tween-world after all!
Smile, darn ya, smile!
No matter that the princess sets up a fall!
Cutting edge VR is overrated,
Nothing here will ever be X-rated,
With Whimsey style!
Come on and smile, darn ya, smile!
Smile, darn ya, smile!
Their world is something that can play it pretty dumb!
Smile, darn ya, smile!
And keep your rising gorge within under your thumb!
Must be really very hard to take it,
Chibi Nick must show them how to fake it,
In Whimsey style!
Come on and smile, darn ya, smile!
—from the cartoon “Smile, Darn Ya, Smile!” authorship uncertain but probably Frank Marsales and Abe Lyman (the Wikipedia entry wasn’t helpful). Also in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.”
(I swear I thought of it soon as I saw the strip this morning, before I scrolled down and saw Frank’s post.)
“Ow! It contaminated me with beta particles! And the other one swore at me…I think.”
“What’d you expect fairies to do?”
“I thought they did nice things like…like granting wishes.”
“Huh. Shows what you know, don’t it?”
well at least he’s still a copter
Even better: A copter who can emote.
Nick’s avatar is so cute
AAH-HA-HA-HA-HAA! X°D
Someone needs to Shapeways that.
Nick does not look very amused!
I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Suggestion #1: more realistic bird-rotor interactions.
Seconded!
Shredded tweet!
Smile darn ya smile!
Beautiful.
BISCUIT!
So. Cute. XD

I love Chibi Nick SO MUCH! My day is now made.

Ooh, and I thought it was that song from Batman the animated series
Chibi Chopper!
The WTF expression on Chibi Nick in panel 3 is the best!
I was hoping to see OG Nick again, but this is soooo much better!
OMG.
Anyone care to guess who is the unnamed “one of the Worlds largest companies”?
Haven’t a clue, since I think he’s stuck in Alt-Disney right now.
…Whimsy Corp. That’s the company they’re talking about.
http://skin-horse.com/comic/kind-of-person/ is a good start to get an understanding of what Whimsy Corp means in Skin Horse’s storyline.
I like that strip. Shows everybody what Nick’s favorite digit is.
After the initial reflex response this may become Nick’s go-to happy place.
Into a world of cheery cartoon characters and whimsical delights, comes Nick Zerhakker. This is going to be goooood.

Fairies, doing nice things? Hahahahahahahahahahaah…
Already better than AG-I, since they let him create his own avatar, even if it’s a subconscious representation.
This looks like a toddler version of Nick. I highly doubt that he came up with that idea.
Well at least the company provided him a VR form that accommodates his personal identity.
