Out of curiosity, are Shaenon, Jeff, or any of the characters fans of Rush (the band)?
I’m only asking this because I saw a quote on Nick’s old Livejournal which seems to reference a lyric.
“Fly By Night” is particularly appropriate for Nick, for reasons that should be apparent. Clockwork Angels (which does seem like something Skin Horse should be looking into) postdates Nick’s introduction by several years.
It’s already been established that he does, that his is sexier than Virginia’s, and it’s the source of his self-confidence. (I’d add a link, but working through half of the “I Can Fly” chapter on a phone is too much work. Not to mention distracting).
If you tap on the chapter title up there right under today’s date, it brings up the entire chapter, and you can just scroll down through it. It took me all of two seconds to find this.
The point, I believe, was so that the Biomass didn’t see Nick coming. Although the “Wup, wup, wup” was kind of a dead giveaway.
I’m pretty sure Shaenon has had lots of practice drawing Nick’s Osprey body by now. Although it’s going to be really funny to see Tip and Sparkle riding around in an invisible Nick. (Which may actually be hard to draw.)
Ahh, but Nick’s invisibility is the setup for there also being invisible flying bicycles with chainsaws and flamethrowers, and who wants to draw those?

Nick is apparently a fan of Fly By Night.
Thanks! I completely forgot about that one.
(Moving Pictures is their best album, though, and for songs about escaping, both Subdivisions and Caravan beat Fly By Night by a country mile.)

Personally, Permanent Waves is my favorite Rush album, but I agree with John Campbell that Fly By Night is highly appropriate for Nick.
Does Daphne see Tip as *not* wearing underwear?
Let the wind blow high, let the wind blow low!
Through the streets in my kilt I go!
All the lassies say, “Hello…
…Donald, where are your trousers?!”
There’s a Dr. Demento Show staple I wasn’t expecting to be reminded of today! Nice one, D. Walker!

Of course Daphne still hasn’t seen it…
Fanservice does not require the target going commando.
‘his fly he closed with the point of a pin,
makes for speed, said Tom Bolyn’.
Okay, Tip… Give them all (except Nick) a flash of what’s under your skirt, and then ask who wants to leave.
That was my thought too.
I still don’t get what the point of invisibility was, except making this easier to dra– ooooooooooh

Personally speaking, I’m much rather see a picture of Jeff in a new cute animal hat.
I—think I like Sparkle better than Sweetheart. Don’t tell either of them I said so.
Remember, Sweetheart’s first thought of the worst possible person for Tip to have encountered was Sparkle! This should be… interesting.
Escape back to A-Sig? Eh, maybe later. The biomass could start an outreach program if we need something that’s not here after all.
Either Sparkle is having none of this, or, since she already knows what’s up Tip’s skirt, has no need for the novelty. Or both.
Didn’t Sparkle get a look at what’s under Tip’s underwear back when he was a werewolf?
That’s what I said, yes.
Underwerewolf?
Bravo! Well played!
Dang it! You best me to it!
“I still have work here.” She and H. T. were collaborating on their fanfic…
There’s an old Scottish joke: “There’s nothing worn under the kilt, it’s all in working order.”
There’s another one: “The only thing worn under the kilt is well-worn.”
**inserts oblique reference to another old Scottish song** …muttermuttermutter blue ribbon muttermuttermutter…..
First prize.
As if he wouldn’t let you look up his skirt in any case.
