And nice weather makes me sleepy – plus I hate yardwork (which my wife has asked me to do – she raked out (about half) the flowerbeds and wants me to pick up the gathered debris.
Thus I’m doing laundry (work-clothes and hanging stuff) so I can productively procrastinate.
Ed, I think the page got posted late. It wasn’t up at 2 am my time. And great tune, as always. For some reason, I was thinking Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ instead…
Or maybe it can, but because she’s never seen red before, she doesn’t recognise it. Interpreting art is something you develop, not something you’re born with, after all.
I had Friday’s comic showing up until late this morning, Saturday’s still won’t load fully (although the comments do), and Friday’s is still on GoComics, so I have nothing upon which to comment.
Specifically, they’re dichromats, with blue and yellow cones. To a dog, red is just a dull yellow. But regular dogs don’t seem to particularly care about color, wolves are nocturnal and crepuscular hunters, so color is not very important, and it would probably have left the gene pool in another few hundred thousand years. It already left the brainpool.
Using Dog-Vision.com it would seem that what Sweetheart sees (assuming that her brain can handle improved focusing, dogs see things mostly as a blur) roughly the following three colours on the alert (best as I can describe ’em, anyway): Butter yellow, mouldy butter yellow, and rotten avocado.
As a neat aside, the colours of the drone stay roughly the same (though it gains a rather corpse-like pallor) since it has yellow hair and blue clothing.
If that is Ohio, it turns out the people who think Sweetheart has been a very bad dog are highly localised. They probably haven’t asked too many of the people around the edges, hence them not having a colour which appears on the key. Whatever else could the chart mean?
On reflection, that map appears to generally describe a dispersal pattern based on prevailing winds.
The narrower bands up-wind could be attributed to either blast debris or similar effects, and overall could even reflect radiation hazards – combining direct radiation exposure with the secondary exposure from contamination downwind.
Yes. It’s been established since Artie told H. T. that Sweetheart was gay, or thereabouts. Sweetheart is very deep in the closet, though, so it’s natural that it won’t even show up in simulations designed to mess with her.
Although I think Simulation!Unity going on about how far she got with Bubbles was designed to freak her out a bit on that score, without her really knowing why.
Seriously? After noon, and no comments yet? Everyone must be outside enjoying the weather.

Red, red, this map is red!
It shows how ma-ny people are dead!
Black, black, our ops are black!
Cover is blown, deception I lack!
Grey, grey, the smoke is grey!
We need a breeze to blow it away …
Blind, blind, I’m color-blind!
This isn’t real, it’s all in my mind!
I’ve been hacked! Anasigma stinks!
In my brain, now they mess with my thinks!
Red, red, the chart is red …
(This isn’t real, it’s all in my head!)
Brown, brown, the **** is brown,
Creek that I’m up, and what’s going down!
Wasn’t up earlier.

*Sleeps in till 10:00, leisurely breakfast then checks comics*
Yeah that’s it, I was totally outside enjoying the weather and not in any way lazing around indoors. *nonchalant whistle*
I guess just because the drone has trichromat vision, that doesn’t mean her brain does.

I do like your song, though.
So dogs can tell blue from yellow but not red? Don’t let them drive on our streets, then.
And if you do let them drive, don’t let go of the leash for a second!!
(Thank you, Gary Larsen.)

(looks at black line) Is that the entire state of Ohio?! o.O;
Is it high in the middle and round at the ends?

Yeah, is that epicenter around Marion?

Inappropraite thoughts about zombies? Wait, is she attracted to unity?

Technically it’s bichromial vision.
